Factions are kind of limited in the sense that some groups may not like working with mages *cough*Sixfingeredhand*cough*, but overall if you look at things closer to monk or even Buddhist orders then I think that's where you'll get a lot of inspiration for your orders and factions mage wise. Heck, even if you make something like the mutant school in X-Men that would be possible. You'll have your mages who train for years on how to be able to control their powers, you'll have those who train formally(in a classroom, think Harry Potter), and those who train informally(outside of a classroom). For those who train informally, maybe Joe Mage was in a traveling circus as a magician for several years and learned to be able to control his powers on his own before being discovered.

Otherwise, if you want to make one in line with the creeds from the World of Darkness world, they could follow the creed of being Visionaries. They'll fit along perfectly with that whole bit, trying to figure out why everything is happening and destroying it if they have to.

I see what your saying but I imagine the Six Fingered Hand will hate the mages no matter what mages thinks. But my main idea with the factions was where the mages draw their power from, like spirits, cosmic energy, internal power, the stars and planets but I see what your saying, I am thinking that there should be a universal mage order that takes mages of all kinds and unites them to a common goal.

That's good, in the Warhammer universe there are several "schools" and it seems like you mentioned a few of them so that's why I thought you might play it. If I were you, I would stick with that type of separation for the mage's specialty and then have them all part of one overarching "school".

You could also clump some of them together, for example the schools of death and destruction could be part of a group that seeks to destroy the supernaturals(destruction wanting to destroy them and death wants to get rid of them because they don't have a natural death).

All of the elementals can work together and fire, ice, water, air would be sub-specialties.

Hey I was just wondering...it seems to me that one of the key themes of Blood Moon is that the existence of the supernatural war is kept a secret from the masses...

My thought is...if the war has started in earnest...do you think more people would be aware of it?

More "odd events" may occur, but it probably wouldn't happen until one group could easily introduce themselves and then sweep away all forms of resistance easily.

I don't think so...

I think some people may become aware after the first 'breaches' of reallity start to happen. And even then, i'm sure hunters/vamps will do their best to cover it up.
Even the 'Crooked worlds' invasion wants to do a suprise attack. There's no point in announcing theyexist and will now begin their war.
(And hunters don't want a world wide anxiety pandemic. And prefer to handle things themselves)

4 out of 5 hunters also prefer colgate over any other brand of toothpaste. Or is it 4 out of 5 dentists, either way they're both busy about cleansing something so its hard to tell them apart.

Does anyone else notice that hunters tend to die a lot in this RP? If we look at the hunters from the original RP, all but 4 died or were turned into a werewolf. In the second RP all but 2 died or were turned into a werewolf. Also, in the first RP 1 hunter was turned into a werewolf, in the second RP 2 were turned into werewolves. So in the third installment I expect only 1 hunter to survive and 4 to be turned into werewolves or something.

Again...the benefits having no NPCs...it makes your main character look more badass if he/she doesn't have a running mate to compare them too...

I don't know Warork, Harlow is cool and all but he's nothing compared to Sven. In terms of overall badass character I would have to give it to Sven for Blood Moon II, in terms of I I'm not too sure. While I would like to say that Andy was particularly bad-ass, I will have to admit that I am a bit biased.

See, I want to say that but there were so many other accounts of bad-assery in the first one.

1) Jimbo charging at the Fallen in order to give the others the chance to escape the basement.

2) The hunter HQ being completely wiped out by Pontius's minions.

3) The "Pinky" ordeal.

So I can't really think of a defining moment in the last RP, although I think the Theater Event was the biggest one of them all.

Didn't Andy storm the Crooked House, kill everyone inside, and only lose his hand? Any possible his humanity?

He lost his hand, but he had help killing some of the nasties inside and then again Pontius didn't have the common courtesy to actually die. But then again that was the second RP.

Besides, if Sven hadn't of been there the whole Crooked House event would've probably looked like this:

"And then the vampires and ghouls danced and sang as the crucified bodies of the hunters were hung for all of them to see. They cheered at the agony conveyed in their twisting bodies and muffled screams were heard from behind bronze death masks that had been affixed to their faces. The End.".

Stop being so damned humble!

Musater did nothing in BMII! He got his NPC killed, and moved people from place to place.

NOTHING!

He set events into motion, sure it wasn't particularly bad-ass but he still served a role. I'm not being humble though, just being realistic. That's the difference between my character and I, Andy has an inflated ego and I look at it more realistically. But let's just say that Andy will be losing a lot of his ego in the next RP, and that's just in back story.

Well yeah...anyone would be up there on the coolness factor if they could shoot deep fried Hail Marys from their hands...and Sven is even cooler because he fried a whole bunch of stuff like that before he died heroically, not to mention he had some pretty swank ideas that he used to help the generally FUBARed hunter team.

Anyway, that wasn't really my point, everyone in Blood Moon has their own style that makes them cool...

Ryan is as charming as a three legged billy goat but he's a brute and has some deeply human moments that I enjoy.

Andy is a rogue and a renegade, he's gone to great lengths and much personal loss to do his duty to humanity even if his comrades in arms now reject him. He's got a will to press on that's unbelievable sometimes and that's cool.

Vegas is strong and resilient, she has a mean streak ten miles long and shows a distinct lack of fear that I find awesome.

Pontius is an evil bastard but he's the good kind of evil bastard, the ones that are the bane of the hero's existence, the ones that put the hero in a position to choose between the lesser of two evils, the ones that manipulate and are annoyingly hard to get at, just like a vampiric version of the Joker and that's awesome.

Joker's a slick hunter, he's got a style, a pizazz to his work, not to mention he's got a rockin name and NPCs that reflect that as well. Plus he's with the "King's Men" which for some reason reminds me of the New Vegas "Kings" which means he'd looks something like a witch hunter and a greaser combined and that is just plain cool.

Scarlett started out innocent enough but she's got this mystery and dark brooding going on around her that I find intriguing, add to that the fact she's become something more akin to a Blade uber vampire and that makes her one hell of a package.

Erzuli's got a lot of charm, unlike Natasha she's interested in making sure that the all of the plans of her kind are coming to fruition naturally instead of forced. In that way, she's become a conduit for all of this werewolf prophecy stuff which I find pretty awesome in itself.

Musater's got a calm composure around him, he's the professional, the guy who keeps his cool no matter what and that's why he's awesome.

Dez, well, Dez was the one who got in everybody's way and in the end, despite his gak getting seriously messed up, he got away, that takes some style...

Harlow does things his own way and wont let anyone else tell him otherwise, he's a loner, he's never needed or relied on anyone else and isn't afraid to say what he thinks or do what he wants. Do wrong by him and he'll rip you apart without blinking, do right by him and he still might rip you apart but at least you'll know the difference when its all over and that's his style...

That was a really good summary of all of the characters, but, and there's always a but, I still think Sven was the coolest.

And you'd probably be right...that last nod from Mordo was the thing that tipped it for me...

Even after he's dead, he was still beatin the gak out of Pontius and that was awesome...for some reason I imagined that last battle to look something like the last battle between Cole McGrath and the Beast in InFamous 2

Anyways, back to discussion. Any people who join as hunters are probably going to get royally screwed over, but that doesn't mean we don't need them.

The added benefits of being a hunter include awesome weaponry, sure shotguns and machine guns are cool, but hunters get shotguns and machine guns that shoot silver or wooden bullets. Sure having immortality is cool, but hunters can go outside and tan and they don't have to worry about emberrassing themselves on a date during the full moon.

So hunter RPers, we need YOU! Enlist today, die at some point during the RP. In all seriousness though, there really aren't too many benefits stats wise for being a hunter, it comes down to gear. I think that hunters should get some kind of gear depending on their creeds/virtues. A hunter who is zealous will get something that has either more dakka or more choppa in it. Bonus attacks from the weapon, more strength in the weapon, just some little stat boosters. A hunter in the Mercy creed will get something that increases toughness or negates a cetain amount of wounds. Where as a Visionary creed will get something that increases Initiative and does something else.

I'm thinking amulets, and scrapping the division of the creeds into different ones(so instead of 9 there will be only 3).

Zeal would add +D3 wounds and +1 strength against supernaturals. Also -D3 Toughness.

Mercy would take away -D3 wounds(against the wearer) and add +1 to toughness. Also -D3 Strength.

Visionary would get +D3 Initiative and +1 attack. Also -1 strength and -1 toughness.

Explanations:
Zeal: Focused on killing the bad guys so they lose a bit of defense.
Mersy: Focus on defense of the innocent and lose a bit of their attack.
Visionary: Understand their targets and can plan around their moves, lose a bit of attack and defense because of lack of focus in those areas.
