Sorted. Go ahead and see them .

Excellent, also for future reference, you can also imbed those images easily into your posts, just gotta copy the code in the gallery image that says "Forums". So like looking at this page: http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/548130-.html you'll see Forums on the right hand side, copy that paste into the reply box, and bam your images for all to see!

With that being said, 1) I believe your hive guard is the best nid to date. The feathering on the carapace is getting better with each nid you do. I'd try doing some starker brights on that just as an experiment, the green on the gun is a little different compared to the rest of the nid, but it provides a nice contrast to the bright 'flesh' of the nid.
2) Your farseer is decent, I think it need some work. I'd check out this article: http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Painting_Blackstone_Gems which can provide the basis on painting gems. It's really easy to do and can add a lot of pop to those gems on the seer. It also looks like you may have been holding him by his left hand/down near his the edge of his cloak as it looks like the paint was worn away at those points, and the white looks chalky and thick. Now I can't knock you for that because I can't get a smooth white no matter how many coats I put down.

Regardless of how people are reacting to your painting, you've come a long way when people look at this:

and then see you came from this:

(not that this is a badly painted model, but the skills you've learned between then and now are starting to show)

Thank you so much for that link. It helped so much I could kiss you :3. I've touched up (for want of a better phrase) the seer and I'll hopefully being uploading more pics of it soon. Still don't quite know how to paint white armour though.

Arrrrgh! I've decided to try a new colour scheme out on my Tyrant. The skin's very lazy, just a white primer and a blue wash but put next to the carapace (which is rather different in that it's taken me 3 hours so far and still not finished). I've used three colours on it, although the lightest one is just the lightest tone of the middle colour and the darkest colour isn't even a colour it's just the darkest tone of all colours so technicaly it's just 1 colour lol. But to say I've only used 1 colour it looks bloody good so far. However I've used approx 4 different layers at least and there's ALOT of carapace to cover so it's so teidious (excuse the spelling) so I don't think I'll be using it again any time soon :(.

Look at the quality of the highlighting you've achieved on the cape (much improved BtW)

Now look at the quality of finish you've got on the helmet.

white takes a long time to master. A very long time. I agree that it woudl be worth adding some touch-ups for depth, but as of right now, I'm not going to lie. I am impressed with the white.

A preview of a new colour scheme I'm trying out. It maybe simple but you've gotta admit, it looks good:

And now a close up of his tail which I have proudly modified to have a tailmaw which I fashioned out of three devourers:

waste of devourers hey? would you like to have the giant bag of useless trash devourers I have? assuming I can find it and didn't throw it in the recycling bin....
I agree though, that tail is bloody boss.

the model is still two-dimensional though, the wings could have tried being blue, or maybe veined at least.

i'm actually digging the carapace, nicely done.

I understand the pride in fielding models you've painted yourself. However if after seeing my final orc models you change your mind I'll do you a great deal. I can purchase and paint the models before sending them or if you have the models you post them for me to paint and I'll post them back when painted. Message me for a quote. As I'm still fairly new as a commission painter you can expect a great deal.
Thanks for the compliment. I hope with the help of you guys you'll soon be chatting to a golden deamon finalist .

Here's my 1st Orc Biker and some of the warriors from the Necron army I'm painting up.
1st off the biker:

I'm not sure if I should add highlights or leave it as this as I think it looks exellent and I don't wanna ruin it. What do you guys think?
Now the warriors:

Yeh so, any tips on them?

Necrons: They're meant to have massive contrast, paint up the eyes brighter and the chest symbols and all that, green's your spot colour, throw it around a little ^_^ Your biker looks great, my only criticism would be the nose ring looks a little too bright for the model overall, and the colour has gotten a little onto his nose. The eyes are also very, very dark for an Ork, just put a little spot of bright red at the centre, it makes them look a lot more demonic, you'll also notice on Ork models that they have eyelids, unlike every other model in the GW range, and you seem to have smudged the red a little onto the eyelid, so sort those out and it'll look great :3

PS: Just gone through this whole thread, and to have come from those space wolves to this is an absolutely dramatic change, it's taken me four years to go from crappy Ultramarines to what I have in the gallery, I guess I'm just slow haha x)

That ork bike is great, but I think the biker could be improved. Orks are a challenging race to paint, but with time, as you have shown in your other models, they will vastly improve! To improve the ork, try dry-brushing a slighty lighter shade of green over skin, and work on the teeth and eyes! Also remember that ork vehicles and weapons are made out of scrap, so dont be afraid to add a different coloured panel here and there! Also, remember that red ones go fasta!

2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!

Wow just read this thread from start to finish. Massive improvement from the first models to the latest. And that was what over the course of 3 months? I don't remember seeing here but a cheap airbrush (like the $30 one that the buypropainted guy uses) would speed things up and make painting easier.

Airbrush? You mean spraygun? I've got one of them but they use an insane ammount of paint :-(.

You do tend to lose some paint due to spraying around the model but the time involved and smooth gradient of colouring can be worth it. I generally only end up using a drop or two of my greys (model air) when spraying a black to light grey gradient on a model

You are showing tremendous improvement and, while my own paint skills are average (at best) I cannot give you any advice, but suggest you listen to the other Dakkites here who are excellent painters.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I lost internet access :(. But I'm back now, with some new models which I will get up when I can get decent enough lighting for the pictures. Untill then here's my 1st attempt at stippling. I'm happy with it but I wanna know what other people think:

Obviously I have used this technique to give the model a rusting effect. What do you guys thik. Does it look realistic?
