If you place in Ard Boyz its a $25 box for third, ~$45 for second and ~$65 for first Was anyone else told the winners could only pick plastic prizes? Our sales rep said we were not allowed to pick metal or finecast items for prizes. I took third at our store and was horribly disappointed in that. It Really cuts down on your prize selection when you have to find a plastic box for $25 and can't grab any of the blisters. It was a super fun casual event at our store with only four people showing up due to the massive decline in GWs local popularity here, but finding that out at the end of it just soured it a bit for me a d piled on yet another reason for me to hate GWs decisions.

Didn't hear any limitation such as that, but I also picked up a plastic boxset so the issue wouldn't even apply. The first place finisher was allowed to place a special order and apply the winnings towards it (a GW model).

This is how it works:
GW tells it's trade accounts, "We'll give you xxx in prize support". They want to be able to replace the goods the store passes out. Metal is out, as trade has no metal. Finecast I'm not sure on. Maybe supply issues, or some stores don't carry blisters, just boxes. Guessing here.
Store gives out what GW says it will give them.
Older stores like me and many others don't see a difference in xxx dollars in product out and xxx dollars of different stuff back. We'll let people pick most anything, as long as what GW is sending replaces what goes out. In that case, I don't mind if you take paints, finecast, metal models, etc.
We run Sat at one store, Sun at the other. Off in 2 minutes to start signups and heat up two pots of chili dogs for lunch.)

Yeah, It's suppose to be plastic boxes but good store owners don't really sweat it. I was told this at the store I attended and then the guy winked and said apply it however you want as long as it's GW stuff.

At my FLGS, it was plastic-only, off the shelves. If you want something above your prize level, you pay the difference.
1st: $60
2nd: $40
3rd: $25

Our guy was nice and allowed me to get $40 worth of non-shelf material.

That was our prize structure too. Not only that but we were not allowed to pay the difference if we wanted something that costs more. Do you know how few items GW has for $25 now, and how few they have at near $60?

I don't know about event held at GW stores, but any indep retailer should be able to get you anything GW including metal and resin for the ammount of your price.
I'm surprised at some stores offering up non-GW products as prices though.

We were allowed to pay the diference, however getting 60 and the only thing I need are 2 Razorbacks is always depressing ...
By the time I went to see if the guy that got second would get me a razorback and I'll get him a (blank) he had already paid the diference to get a Battlewagon -_-

A store owner that actualy knows how to deal with inventory and the GW rep can flex your prizes alittle (paying the difference, multiple small items). Officialy the support was 60, 40, 25.
The prize I picked (second place) was only 30 and I was allowed to pass on the extra to third.

Our prize support was 60, 40, 25. Only merchandise off the shelf, only one item, and you could not pay any difference for something higher....
Our TO wouldn't let us budge anything. Wanted 2 venoms (30, and 30) but he only let me have one, and didn't have any ravagers. Still not bad for a free tourny.

The TO did let us cheat mind you, as I ended up paying $7 and picked up a $32 Finecast box, but it doesn't make GW's prize support policy in this instance any less stupid. I don't know why they don't just go with their more normal system where we get $50 a month of whatever we want from GW for store support, and do $125 of extra support for this event.

We had the same, 60, 40, and 25. I ran our stores event, and had discussed prize support with the store owner. He basically said that we can use the $125 in GW product split however we wanted. Everyone was pretty amicable about it, with both the 1st and 2nd place player choosing to kick extra down to 3rd.

Officially the payout was:
1st. Pick a boxed set up to $60 in value.
2nd A boxed set up to $40.
3rd "An item" up to $25.
My local store owner also said he was told by email no Finecast.
Pretty crappy prize structure, honestly. All you guys whose store owners are more flexible, thank those guys and appreciate them!

Our store gave $60, $40, $25. Had to be one item equal or less, and you could not pay the difference.
If I was the store owner, I would have simply allowed them to get what they want, and submitted their "selections" to GW, with their selections being things I needed to reorder anyway.

why would it matter? The store owner can put down they took whatever they wanted to get up to the $125 in inventory to replace the inventory won at the event (ie I could take a Fine Cast item and the store could replace that with a land raider/dreadnight) why would it matter? GW product is GW product is GW product.
