So as stated in topic how do you play your TWC with a lord with a battleleader all SS no SS newer SW player and need insight.

What do you think of saga of the warrior born for lords?

If Force Weapons weren't so common with the advent of GK, then the Saga of the Warrior Born would be a great option. As it is, an all-corners list would need Saga of the Bear to take any instant death hits.

I usually take storm shields on all my Wolves, and a Wolf Claw on the TWC Lord so that he can reroll failed hits/wounds.

At 1500 I use a 3 TWC unit all with SS, one with meltabombs, and one with a thunder hammer. I use them as a countercharge unit or to hit targets of opportunity that won't leave them too exposed.

At 2000 I add a second two wolf unit, both with SS and one with a TH.

That 3+ invulnerable is gold, and soaks up a lot of fire that would otherwise be directed at the rest of my army while allowing me to be more aggressive with how I use them.

My 1500 uses 3 TWC:
1 SS/TH
1 SS
1 Naked

Situational: Run them up a flank to start clearing out a side: Tenderize with LFs, add a dash of TWC, add salt to taste.

Otherwise, they're a good, aggressive cleanup crew/ support to GHs, etc.

Depends on role.

-For countercharge, 4-5 TWC, 1 with SS and 1 with Powerfist is enough.
-For bringing the fight to the enemy, a Wolflord with TH/SS, runic armor and Saga of the bear, with 10-15 Fenrisian Ablatives. Wolftooth if you have extra points.

Ive tried combining a 5-man TWC and a Thunderwolflord, it was extremely overkill, and they always get shotup - morethan enough times to survive and make their points back.

It is usually not a good idea to spend more than 300 points on TWC.

Ok what about units of one TWC with special weapon SS?

thunder wolves are only good if you give the majority of them storm shields, otherwise they wont be able to soak up very much heavy fire.

The general strategy is that you will give an SS to an insignificant member of the TWC, so that he will be the one doing the AP3 saving. Ofcourse it is still viable to give another SS to the one with the power weapon so long as you have the points. Context wise, trust me a 3+ invulsave on a 3+ armor save model is VERY EXPENSIVE.

Storm shields or no storm shields, they will never be able to properly soak up heavy fire. As experienced players who have fought TWC before will shoot them with bolters rather than Hi str low ap guns.
