Hello,

I was buying my blood Angel DoA List Today and noticed they no longer make actual Honour Guard models anymore so I was wondering if anyone could give me some kitbashing/converting ideas/pictures for them?

at the moment I'm thinking of using Sanguinary Guard Models with Death Company Heads and then Melta Guns/Plasma Guns then giving Wing backpacks to my Librarian Models aswell and Dante for if I ever Use him.

Sang Guard works well as long as you use normal jump packs and skip the wings so they aren't confused with the actual sang guards. Another good option is the Command Squad which includes stuff for the sang priest. I did a HG recently which was built off dark angel veteran sprue with the robes. Made them theme wise to be Mephiston's HG.

Not sure If i would ever take Sang Guard, i fear painting all that gold.
might get a friend to paint my Dante for me, Honour Guard would be their models but painted red hehe

I am using the apothecary from the command squad set, along with 4 other sets of bodies and legs, plus the Sanguinary Guard helmets (not bare heads or Death Masks), and weapons.

Sentinels of Baal - In Progress (roughly 2000 pts, ~35-40% painted)
Lizardmen - In Queue
Pre-Heresy Death Guard - On Deck

I built mine by kit bashing the SG box with the command squad box and finished them with unused DC jump packs. It sounds a lot more expensive than it really is, as you get all of the pieces from the command squad to spruce up your other squads, ads some nice variety.

The previous Honor Guard boxed set was little more than metal assault-stlye marines (with standard, apoth, tech, etc) dressed up with some blood angels iconography and gold helmets.

The new codex does show an honor guard in all gold armor, but that's just one option. As long as it's clear what member is what and you've got gold worked into the paint scheme you'll be fine.

They weren't even all metal it was a box with four plastic assault marines. A sang priest, techmarine torso, banner, power weapon, and vet Sgt head.

Most of the parts in the HG box haven't been legal since the PDF which is kind of a bummer really. You COULD buy the metal Sang priest, but I'll echo others that the command squad plus DC or SG is a better choice. You could also use the metal veterans mixed in with kit bashes.
The all gold HG in the codex is the 2ed Dantes HG that actually predates the box pictured.
Your HG need only have a gold helmet or similar identifying feature. I did one in Bone with red trim back in 4ed, but I prefer a traditional Red wit gold helms and pad trim.

I hope this helps. My honor guard is a somewhat eclectic mix of metal veterens from the 4ed SM book, metal DC, command squad, new DC, and SG. I also run Mech so no JPs. I would probably use the DC packs and paint any of the crosses gold, I've been using metal DC pads for years painted yellow...because the insignium astartes says crosses means assault.Sorry about the picture quality, I used powerpoint to edit, and its not the best.

You see, to Auston, everyone is a Death Star; there's only one way you can take it and that's through a small gap at the back.
