I'm just getting back into all this games workshop stuff again after a 15 year break.

I've been looking at the best way to strip paint off plastic and metal mini's.

I tried some mr muscle over cleaner and it did absolutely nothing. I may as well have dipped it in water.

I'm thinking of getting one of these Ultrasonic Vibration Cleaners. The type people use to clean jewellery. Has anyone ever used one of these before? Cheers!

I've never used one but I have used Simple Green, works a treat!

Also, just remembered, one of the UK users posted a review of this product a few months ago, absolutely raving about it. I noticed your UK flag and it made me think of it. He did mention that it is quite pricy however you can reuses it.

Failing that run down to your local Asda or equivalent and get some Fairy Power Spray, it worked partially for me because I didnt apply it well enough.

Use and old toothbrush to really get it into the nooks.

i have an ultrasonic cleaner i use to strip models and clean FW models. the tank is large enough to fit a Baneblade in.

its a bit noisy but i have it in the basement so i dont hear it as much. i run Super Clean in it and i am pleased with it.

i have taken completely painted models and put them in the tank and run it periodically over a few days (i say a few days so that the super clean has time to really break down the paint) i put some OOP metal ravenwing landspeeders that were painted in my tank, and 4 days later they fell apart into their bits and looked brand new.

super clean reacts with CA glue and turns it white and brittle so removing glue is effortless.

i had a drop pod i got in a trade and it was COVERED in layers of paint. i put it in the tank for 4 days and when i took it out the paint came off like a snake shedding skin.

the paint and primer were nearly gone from the completely assembled model with just the interior having some primer, even the details were cleaned of paint and primer.

i cleaned a few of my FW kits in my tank and some parts from my FW Kill Bursta tank that were thickly covered in release agent. majority of my FW items were free of release agent with the only exceptions being some kits that i tried to rush a bit.

i really do like the cleaner as i can use it for many other things than model cleaning. it is great that i do not have to stand infront of the sink for hours scrubbing models, once i take stuff out of the tank i just give it a quick scrub with a toothbrush to get all of the cleaner off.

the thing to remember with an ultrasonic is that it really scrubs everything and all that scrubbing creates lots of heat. this is fine for metal and plastic and you can run the cleaner a few times in a row with those minis in the tank. FW stuff you have to watch and after i do a run of FW stuff i check the temp and either run it again or i let the lid off for it to cool before i run it again.
