Which codexes have been released for 5th edition and who are we waiting on?

Imperial Guard Landspeeder Pilot

On moon miranda.

Daemons: 2008 (5 weeks or so before 5E release, really aren't a 4E book, they have several rules that don't really make sense or function under 4E, and some that are flat out broken in 4E such as Skulltakers rending)
Space Marines: 2008
Imperial Guard: 2009
Space Wolves: 2009
Tyranids: 2010
Blood Angels: 2010
Dark Eldar: 2010
Grey Knights: 2011
Sisters of Battle: 2011 (next month in WD)

Still need to be done

Necrons
Tau
Black Templars
Dark angels
Eldar
Orks (though designed with at least some 5E rules in mind, came out about 6 months before 5E)
Chaos Space Marines
"For real real" Sisters of Battle

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

There is no scheduled release date as of yet, but it's most likely coming out sometime in October or November this year.

Although I know that the company isn't going to promise to give a new Codex for every army before moving to a new edition, I would like it if they would at least tell us which ones will or won't be released before the new edition. A longer release schedule, I guess, is what I would like to see.

Welcome to the Freakshow!

orks won't get a 5th edition codex... designed with 5th in mind... unless they pull the same and we are among the last codex made in 5th with 6th in mind... I'd be happy with one of the first 6th codexes though that way nothign is lost in transition having to work for 2 editions

As for sisters getting a real codex i sincerely doubt it. from the lack of support from gw i think we can deduce that they dont sell... at all.
Before the flaming starts i know there are some fans out there but lets face it, gw is not there for your pleasure and to act as your personal conversion basement.

Not personally directed at you GS, but I keep seeing this comment made and I'm not sure it really applies. There are a lot of rules (particularly the KFF rules) that are ambiguous in 5th ed. but are perfectly clear in 4th ed.

And I'm pretty sure that Orks weren't balanced against the 5th edition codex creep armies (even if it does hold up fairly well).

If they DO give us a new Ork Codex, I hope they fix Deffkoptas and Flash Gitz. Those things may look awesome, but they suck.

Orks, CSM and Dark Angels were all done with some of the changes for 5th in mind, as they have both the current formatting and cheap transports. I'd count them in the same category as Daemons. Black Templars and Eldar have been done recently enough that I imagine they'd still be playable in 6th, as they're still viable now. Necrons and Tau are the two who really need it.

GW hasn't done anything to sell them since the nineties. Nobody has any idea how well they'd sell as a real plastic release. They would need a release on par with the Dark Eldar where the whole range was rebuilt from scratch. Dark Eldar seem to be doing well though, as there are a lot of DE armies around and GW still keeps on pumping out new releases for them. If GW could turn a turkey like Dark Eldar into a big seller, I imagine they could definitely do the same with a proper Sisters release. Battle nuns isn't a much harder sell than hardgay bondage elves on flying surfboards.

Actually, hardgay bondage elves on flying surfboards sounds awesome. Gonna go start a Dark Eldar army, brb

it was FAQ'd... in the white dwarf article it did already say that vehicles got a 4+ AND it was in the GW official site as what 5th had in store 4+ vehicles from kff... but it wasn't FAQ'd till recently... still it is as many rules in other codexes even 5th edition ones there are always rule questions.

I don't like deff koptas myself but that's because I prefer rokkit buggies... however I will say that deffkoptas don't need a buff... i just prefer to run vehicle squadrons rather than solo suicide unit. so many times I can deny a kill point by having the last buggy just zip off and hide ... whereas the koptas might have run off the table or be gone.. still they are strong for first turn assaults or outflanking

I hate deffkoptas, they always ruin my day.

OT: I hope Eldar get an update soon, I've had enough of being told over and over again that mech is the only answer. And they release a storm guardian box that doesn't only come with 8 bodies...

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

That Storm Guardian box is as big a joke of a kit as Storm Guardians are as a unit. Metal bits that are too small to pin on hybrid kits? Looks like it's my lucky day!

funny and true, but when you think about it they had a lot more love then the DE and even they deserved a second chance. to be honest i think far too few people feel the need for battle nuns in 40k. they fit the fluff perfectly but so did squats untill they got hit by the economy train.
ps: was the ordo hereticus codex really all the way back in the 90´s? late in the 90´s if you ask me.
