Hey, I'm doing my first 1000pts friendly IG list and would like some opinions and suggestions. (And no, I don't want any chimeltavets. )

HQ:

CCS 50pts

TROOPS:

Veteran Squad 115pts
Plasma Gun x3

INFANTRY PLATOON:
PCS 50pts
Flamer x4

Infantry Squad x3 (Blob 1) 200pts
GL x3
Commissar

Infantry Squad x2 (Blob 2) 175pts
Lascannon x2
Commissar

FAST ATTACK:

Scout Sentinel 40pts
Autocannon

Scout Sentinel 40pts
Autocannon

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Leman Russ Battle Tank 165pts
Lascannon

Leman Russ Battle Tank 165pts
Lascannon

This adds up to a total of 1000pts if my math is correct.
The idea is that the ccs will sit back and issue orders to blob 2 with the LRBTs while everything else moves forward and the sentinels outflank.

After doing some thinking I realised that the vets would killed instantly without a transport so I ditched them for another platoon and some toys for the ccs. Here's what it looks like now:

HQ:

CCS 95pts
Camo Cloaks
Lascannon
Sniper Rifle (Not really useful, I know, but I had 5pts to spare and couldn’t find a better place for them really.)

TROOPS:

INFANTRY PLATOON 1:
PCS 50pts
GL x4

Infantry Squad x3 (Blob 1) 230pts
GL x3
AC x3
Commissar

INFANTRY PLATOON 1:
PCS 50pts
GL x4

Infantry Squad x2 (Blob 2) 175pts

Commissar

FAST ATTACK:

Scout Sentinel 40pts
Autocannon

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Leman Russ Demolisher 165pts

Medusa 155pts
Enclosed crew compartment
Bastion breacher shells


The idea is still the same, ccs stays back and gives orders to blob 2 with the medusa (and demolisher) while blob 1 and the pcs's go for objectives and the sentinels outflank.

You may want to find the points for power weapons for your sargeants, lest you want to have your blobs locked in a losing battle for the whole game, you need to have a little killing ability. Otherwise the list looks fine to me. I usually run 2 Scout Sentinels myself, so kudos to that =P

So you told the SD boy to stay classy. I'm sure he's NEVER heard that one....

I prefered the dual russ from the first list.

Agree that foot vets are a problem, but don't agree with the other changes. Liked the 4 flamers on the PCS - possibly more so than the GL.

If blob 1 is to be mobile then don't put the AC on there - give the blob power weapons and run the AC as a HWS.

I would like to see some melta in there in case you come up against heavy mech. Possibly one of the PCS or CCS?

I would suggest reducing the number of specials in the command squads and putting a couple of vox casters in there. Just enough to give reliable orders to your blob squads.

I could remove the Sniper rifle and give the melta-pcs melta bombs aswell but I'm not sure if it would be used at all or if they would just die before they have time to use it. I'm also not a big fan of vox's, with ld 9 from the commissar they have 3/4 chance to succeed with the order and the vox's increase it with 3/16. I would rather use those points somewhere else for like a melta gun or something, especially as I'm already short of points and can't get everything I want. The medusa and the Demolisher is mostly there to have some medium to long range S10 AP1/2. My main concern though is that they will just die instantly as i don't have that much armor in the list.
