I am getting back into 40k and ahve decided to try Space wolves, i have limited access to a codex and no models until thursday when I am paid. Here is the list I was able to craft together with the help of some firends earlier. These models will be all i can affor this payday.

1x Rune Priest (Chooser of the slain, Jaws of the World Wolf, Living Lightning) 110pts

5x Wolf guard (5x terminator armour, 3x WG w/ combi meltas and power fists, 1x WG w/ combi melta and chainfist, 1x WG w/ Cyclone ML) 230pts

6x Grey Hunter (1x meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino APC) 155pts

5x Grey Hunter (1x meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino APC) 140pts

5x Long Fang (4x ML) 115pts


We tried to come up with a competitive list, as in my experience in the past I never win with 'fun' lists, and only win with comp lists (like poison genestealer spam or mech tau). WG DS in, LF sit in the corner near the edge popping what they can, Rhinos carry GH and RP to objectives, depending on enemy may mainly focus on tabling opponent.

Have you thought of giving your RP TDA and also DS it in with the WG? Then change his powers to Murderous Hurricane and JotWW. You can then do a lot of damage to hordes or snipe a MC or IC.

Another option is dropping your WG to 3 models and using them as pack leaders. Nice way to strenghten your GH squads.

Another suggestion is swopping your Rhino's for Razorbacks. Equip them with either TLAC or TL Plas + Las. I say this because the only real advantage of the Rhino is it's transport cap which you are not using.

I like the idea of RUnepriest w/ TDA DSing with the WG.

I want a 750 or 1k pt list for this paycheck and dropping 2 WG and putting them with the GH puts me 20 points over 750, so right now that isn't an option, but ina larger list when i have more models i think it'd be very nice.

I really like the razorback idea but with the first option it puts me over 750 and far from 1k, but if i drop chooser of the slain i can switch to razorbacks w/ TLPC/LCs and be at 745 points, which i think is stronger for 750 pt games.

TBH i would not take the WG in TDA. It's a waste of points (and money!) at this points level. Add 3 WG in PA with Combi-melta and powerfists and stick them in with the GH and long fangs.(third one has to be there as there is a minimum 3man unit limit on WG, you don't need to give him any upgrades.) And you won't even have to buy anything extra due to having some left over from the other pack boxes! So that frees up some cash to buy other things.
