Anyone else see him turn into Dante at ~36?

Which was brilliant except for the first person sequences which were reasonably short.

Well, all games have faults of some sort.
Just like people complained about Ninja Gaiden 2's camera, but I got used to it and love the game (I think its really just the beginning environments have too much detail and stuff gets in the way and shoves the camera into your face)
I'm hoping that DMC doesn't coddle the player too much on max difficulty and has a few fights that are as intense as max difficulty genshin

That's the worst excuse I have ever heard, no offense. And these aren't small problems, they are major IMHO.

Major for you, I wasn't bothered by them and enjoyed the game.

Ugh, the last metroid totally turned me off of the series after being a massively stalwart fan for every one before it.

Get it out of the hands of whoever made that abomination, imo.

Checking out DMC trailer... looks pretty great. Hopefully they will tighten up the controls since Enslaved, otherwise that game was great.

Ninja Theory (the Developer previously known as Just Add Monsters) is not Team Ninja. Sorry to burst the bubble (not that I'm anymore a fan of Team Ninja mind you). Really, all Ninja Theory has under it's belt are some game I've never heard of, Enslaved which from what I understand was full of good ideas and nice visuals with shallow overall game play, and a God of War clone that wasn't as fun as God of War (like the sequels!)

Doesn't really inspire confidence.

If you've ever played a Ninja Theory game, you were treated what are likely some of the most mind numbingly dull and shallow hack'n slash games ever produced that don't have "Dynasty Warriors" in the title. And unlike Dynasty Warriors, they weren't mindless good fun.

Ironically, God of War is simply a Devil May Cry clone, that I always felt was over-rated and no where near as good.

Kratos is simply not as cool as Dante, beings as he is essentially a Spartan with Wolverine's personality.

It is indeed ironic. Devil May Cry spawned the extreme end of the Hack'n Slash genre. Unfortunately, being in the same sub-genre is really all they have in common (and of course all the features typical of said sub-genre, namely extreme violence). Heavenly Sword is GoW gene by gene with an X chromosone in place of a Y and a silly little additional combat mechanic that was more annoying than fun.

I'm honestly shocked Ninja Theory is still in business. Their game sales have only ever been mediocre. Heavenly Sword was the best, and it didn't sell remarkably well. Probably just well enough to make account for its budget.

Except Wolverine is cooler

I was never fond of Kratos but then God of War was more an experience in feeling totally awesome by ripping your enemies apart in the most brutal way imaginable, while DMC was more about feeling totally awesome by looking awesome/sounding absurdly corny while doing awesome things.

EDIT: Now that I think about it maybe the lack of 'extremeness' was why Heavenly Sword appealed so poorly to fans of the genre? A little stylistic change can go a long way towards improvement.

I didn't think Heavenly Sword was that bad. Saying that, all of Ninja Theory's games have been playable. They might not have been A rated games, but they were pretty good.

And yeah, I agree. Wolverine is far more bad-ass than Kratos.

What I think Ninja Theory's problem (of course, I say this having only played one of their games) is that they have good polish (if the reviews of Enslaved are to be believed excellent polish) but they just seem to lack that final follow through that turns a decent experience into an awesome experience. Mind you, I think DMC2 and 4 also lacked this. They're games are games I can play through but that I drop the moment the ending credits hit. So basically the game is fun for about 8-12 hours depending on what difficulty you're running. That's just not worth $60. It's not worth $20 for me.

Maybe DMC will change things for them, which could explain why they're involved. They do know the genre and can at least make a game that isn't crap and I wouldn't be shocked to find they don't have the money to do their own thing again after the sub par performance of their last two titles. I hate the new character design, I don't like the developer much or the head of said developer (the head of Ninja Theory is a lot like Steve Jobs and the maker of Fable. Completely full of himself). I'm going to wait for the price to go down and to see what all the "I was hesitant to buy this-" user reviews say. Those will be the guys who said they wouldn't buy the game but bought it anyway.

And yeah, I agree. Wolverine is far more bad-ass than Kratos.

Yeah. He manages to pull off broody without being annoyingly broody. Which is harder than I'd think to actually pull off.

I'm with holding judgement until I actually get to play it, but that didn't look too bad....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
