Hey Dakkadakka, I'm working on a new list here, my last game I played against my friend's grey knights, suffering a very close defeat. I loved how my demolisher tanks worked, so they're returning, and this time I've added the pricy executioner tank (we'll see how it goes). This time I'm finally trying the veteran squad formula that most IG players seem to love. In the past I've been running 2 platoons, but this seems more cost efficient. I plan on putting those 2 veteran squads without chimeras into the vendettas, and the storm troopers will likely deep strike using their special mission. Should I have all Veteran squads as melta squads? C&C much appreciated!

You may want to consider getting a plasma squad or two of vets. They really come in handy. I assume the vendettas are two separate units?

Not sure how those storm troopers fit in? Do they ride in the vendettas or do the two vets take those? Either way the vets will need something for transport.

Are you set on Demolishers? Manticores may help out a bit more with hordes.

Yeah I'm planning on deep striking the Stormtroopers, and putting the 2 vets w/o transports into the vendettas, and they will be 2 separate vendettas. Yeah I should try the manticores out huh... I will someday soon, I just love me some tanks haha.

If I replace 2 meltavet squads for plasma vets, what role would they play, anti-high-priority infantry (elites and HQ's)?

You also have the executioner with great plasma so you don't really need to. They are awesome for termies and the like.

Yeah, the plasmas will help out with MCs and 2+ or 3+ saves, as well as light vehicles (AV10) in a pinch.

To be honest, I think your list looks fine. Melta guns destroy marines, and to rapid fire with the plasma you can't move. Your Hot shot lasguns are also AP 3 (str 3 though) and can get through power armor.

Make sure those Chimeras have hull heavy flamers and your set.

Get a few Basilisk that always creams them apart. Grey Knights weakness is AP 1 and 2.

Thanks for all the feedback, I'll definitely put in the hull heavy-flamers, I dunno why I haven't yet haha. Is there anything I could replace the storm troopers with?

You could put in a Valkyrie?

I wouldn't... because it isn't just the STs, but the Astropath as well if you replace them. I think they work better as 'suicide' troops than the Vendetta Vets. I kinda frown on a Astropath if your not Outflanking/reserving at least 3 units... and lets face it, your long range AT are your Vendettas so you shouldn't outflank them.

I think artillery is a poor choice/suggestion if your goal is to get in close to the enemy, as you risk killing your own troops on a scatter. Why do their work for them.

If you do decide to drop the Astropath and the STs (240pts), I would seriously consider another melta/vet/chimera (155pts), 7x bolt pistols (14pts), and Demolitions for your Vendetta Vets (60pts)to give them a demo charge and 10 melta bombs. Can't use the bombs, but the demo charge is a assault weapon. This gives you versitility as a anti-infantry killer. With the Melta Bombs, if you survive, you can shoot and then assault vehicles/walkers.

Good luck.
