So since lots of people playing GK have been taking Psybolts on the autocannons to make them str8, and while i've played against them a few times the GK players keep saying i don't get FnP and that my reclusiarchs and librarians die outright from them doubling my toughness.

Is this correct? As the way i see it they are just modifiers meaning the autocannons would be str 7 (8) so i'd still get FnP and only take 1 wound.

There is nothing in the rules that say it doesn't count for FNP. It simple says to count it as +1 Str. 7+1=8, which is double your toughness. I could see how you would think there might be an exception, since toughness modifiers often times mention that it doesn't change their T for purposes of instant death, however, those are specific rules in their entry, otherwise it would be far more intuitive to believe it would change their threshold for ID(and FNP). Since Psybolt lacks any specific exceptions, he was playing it right.

Pretty sure as we play it in our store the psybolt bumps the Autocannon to Str8. Doing so has caused me to eat lots and lots of nob bikers like candy -nom nom nom-

If i remember correctly, it is double the toughness and or ap1 (2?) that cause cause instadeath.

Just double toughness. AP has nothing to do with it.

You may be thinking of cancelling FNP, which is Double Toughness, and AP1 and AP2.

Runnin up on ya.

You still get your armor save don't you?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Ignoring FNP is double your toughness or AP1 or 2.

So long as your save is a 3+ or better.

Invul and cover saves are also still available.

ID only happens on an unsaved wound, so if your armor save is not denied in some way, or you have a cover/invulnerable save that is not denied in some way, then you will be capable of attempting the best save you have available.

huckleberry, the question was causing ID, not ignoring FNP(the AP portion puma was correcting).

Kel Huckleberry was just correcting Puma's minor typo from and to or

yes str 8 will ID your guy if he is T4 or less and if he fails his save, if he is allowed to make one.

When I was editing, Puma's original post was still there; which had nothing to do with FNP.

So, really, it is my post correcting someones post that wasn't wrong because their post was correcting a post that didn't have anything to do with the correction on my end.

Puma's original post was just dealing with ID and didn't mention FNP; this made huckleberry's post look like he was correcting an issue that never existed as i had not double-checked puma's post from when I had started my post(I have a photographic memory, so could still see puma's post in my minds eye when I saw what huckleberry had posted, and thus was correcting a perceived inconsistency).

Nothing in the FNP rule tells you to use unmodified strenght, therefore you dont.
That simple.
