So my friend wants to play some of the games i play(mainly 40k) but doesnt have much money and cannot keep his attention on one thing for more than a hour, so i was just wondering what you guys thought he and i should start playing we like all the main table top games(fantasy 40k warmachine hordes etc...) and he likes the look of all of them
I dont think he wants to play fantasy because-
It is in his opinion too complicated and takes too much time
So yeah thanks in advance
Thanks

Warmachine/hordes fits the bill for time constraints and is easy enough to get into while building up a collection slowly, but it is rather complex. You want to start slow for sure, so you can both get a good grasp on the rules. One of the big things about warmachine that might make it good for your needs is that it has a strong late-game so it doesn't wind down and get boring before you ever finish. The big 2 player starter comes out next month and it's an amazing bargain if either of you want to start one of those armies, but in the meantime check out this link for the quickstart rules http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/the-game and proxy a game or two to see how it works out. That's my best advice for any new game -proxy first.
You might also do well to check out that sticky on alternative games and check out a few skirmish games in a genre you both like. You probably want a fast paced game with a good tempo and exciting late game though.

I wouldn't particularly call Warmachine complex. The core rules are actually pretty simple (2d6+stat > opponent's stat being the core of it), it's just the added complications of special rules on individual models that makes it tricky.

MERCS would be a good choice. It's quite quick to learn and play. The "armies" are only five to six figures, so it's fairly cheap and not much effort to build up a force.

Malifaux seems like a good option , the games i watched were quite quick and the rules from what i observed were reasonably simple.just a deck of cards no dice.

I think 40k is your best option. I reckon its the best game out there. If you're stuck for time and money just play small games - 500 - 1000points max. You can swap armies so you get diversity. Even play things like killteam scenarios which are only 200 points and lots of fun!
40k doesn't have to be big massive games that cost $$$ and take days, small games are the most fun!

You could try a skirmish game like Necromunda. You don't need many models (keeps the cost down and makes it a bit easier to keep track of stuff in the game) and each of them can grow and have a personality of their own. You also feel rewarded by playing games because the gangs grow and develop over time.

Try Song of Blades and Heroes.

It's a 5 buck ruleset with which you can use any figures you already have. Also, it's dead easy to learn and plays in less than an hour.
If he enjoys it, there are plenty of 8 buck expansions, or you can ease him into one of the games you're already playing.
I've brought a number of players into skirmsh gaming with this rulest and it's still our clubs go-to for fantasy skirmishes.
