New to Dakka, but excited to be here

Just wanted to know what you think a 2000 point tyranid army could sell for. The army is in good condition, has 122 models in it at the moment, 3 MC's, and some other stuff. MC's are painted as well as a portion of the smaller models (Nothing fancy, primed black, painted the carapace and claws red, then dipped the whole thing in minwax for a darker, brownish shade). Didn't put on the swap thread because It's not up for sale (yet anyways), just wanted info.

Although written for selling minis on Ebay, the same principles apply (and Ebay is probably the best way to check to see what stuff is worth):

And if you're selling on Ebay you don't need to worry about what it will sell for...it will sell for what it sells.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a set amount, minis do not sell for retail prices, since people can get them at a discount online or through ebay already. So you should be prepared to sell it at a fair bit under retail price.

Thanks for the response! On ebay, I know it's sporatic but, if the retail price for everything was around $500, is it realistic to ask for $300?

I've had better luck selling individual units rather than whole armies. It's more work, but I would not sell your army as one group. The reason why I suspect is because people are not comfortable throwing big bills around if they don't have to, and that they may only be looking to add a unit to an army they already own, and will not be interested in purchasing an entire force.

However, if you plan to start the bidding at a price that you could be satisfied with if only a single person bids on it, that is a different tale.

Oh, and selling individual units (assuming the unit is complete/undamaged), I've usually earned 2/3rds to 3/4th's the items original value back.
