Hey there. I can't thank this forum enough for helping me get my 40k feet under me. I started playing this past spring, and amassed a 2500 point DoA army for a local 'Ard Boyz, and ended up coming in third (out of 6). I had a minor victory against IG, but if the game had gone another turn, I'dve really started cleaning up. Anyways, I used a DoA list that worked great, except against GKs, but it was more my lack of GK knowledge (oh, look at that, halbards give I6, interesting) than anything else. But I definitely felt that DoA had some weaknesses, and I wanted to put together a more generalized list, so I thought I'd give both my prelim list, and what I'm thinking of taking for my new list, and see what the feedback is:

Prelim list
(Bear in mind part of this has to do with making sure I am 100% WYSIWYG and I only had access to certain models/loadouts)

Commander Dante 225
Librarian with Jump Pack 125

Honor Guard w/Blood Champion Infernus Pistol 2 Melta Bombs & Jump Packs 200
Honor Guard w/Blood Champion Infernus Pistol 2 Melta Bombs & Jump Packs 200

3x Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack Plasma Pistol (I was unaware-because I am a noob-that 3 priests can take up one elite slot. Broke my heart to learn of that too late). 270

Sang. Guard w Power Fist Plasma Pistol Infernus Pistol 230
Sang. Guard w Power Fist Plasma Pistol 220

Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215
Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215
Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215
Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215

Dreadnought 120

That feels like a pretty standard DoA list, right? What I wanted to add were some Furiosos with Blood Talons, so this is a draft of my revised list (I have friends who can now lend me models to take, so my limitations are less)

Possible List:

Librarian w/Jump Pack 125
Librarian w/Jump Pack 125

Honor Guard w/Blood Champion Infernus Pistol 2 Melta Bombs & Jump Packs 200
Honor Guard w/Blood Champion Infernus Pistol 2 Melta Bombs & Jump Packs 200

Furioso Dreadnought w/Blood Talons 125
Furioso Dreadnought w/Blood Talons 125
2x Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Packs 180

Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215
Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215
Assault Squad x 10 w/Jump Packs Sgt. w/Power Fist 215

Stormraven TL Multi-Melta,TL Lascannon, Hurricane Bolters, Extra Armor 245
Stormraven TL Multi-Melta,TL Lascannon, Hurricane Bolters, Extra Armor 245

Dreadnought 2x TL Autocannon 120

This is under 2500 right now, but that lets me add weapons and whatnot to various squads, so lets call it model complete.

My idea would be to put the Honor Guard and the Furiosos in the Stormravens, and use my extra points to kit out the Honor Guard.

The priests would support the assault marines, and the Rifleman dreadnought would be for sniping. My next thought was to drop the assault marines for tactical marines, and use the stormravens for the assault side, and the tac marines for fire support, but I just don't know. That's why I'm posting here. Is the second list terrible? Is the first terrible? Can I rejig it to bring Sanguinor (<3)? Feedback please, but keep in mind I'm new, and green, so assume nothing.

Thanks!

Alright first things first. List1 is is better for a jump list. drop one of the priests drop the dreadnought and drop one of the sang guards. with those corrections add in some vanguard vets. make sure each sarg in the vanguard vet has a power fist. Id also make sure that each honour guard was filled with special weapons if you cant 2 is the way to go/ id drop the camp in the honour guard

List2
i suppose can work but your giving tour enemy everything to shoot at. thats the idea atleast to give him less units to work with. if you like this list id say drop the regular dreadnought and try and figure out a way to get another unit of assault marines in there. same config with the honour guard listed above.

Good...Bad... Im the guy with the, GUN!

I could probably fit a 5th Assault Squad into List 2 as is.

Blood Champions were absolute heroes for me in the prelims. I'd be loathe to take those out.

I played with VVs prior to Ard Boyz, and found them to big a big point gamble. If you can get within 6" for the charge on the scatter, it can be worth it, but I've had them scatter, even with 1d6, outside of assault range so much that I feel like I paid too much money for assault marines.

My thinking about List 1 is that while it's good for a jump list, I'm not sure I want a jump list for the semis, because I expect a lot of GK there, and jumping GK just doesn't work (warp quake.) List 2 is the beginnings of a more rounded list.
