Just finished painting my lowly Chaos Sorcerer here - not sure if I'll use him much as I prefer the chaos lores on them, but he was fun to paint. Makes for some difference against my usual painting schemes.

Ah yes, his name is Etna.

Thx for the comments - and yes, I like this scheme too; I really enjoy painting models in fiery colours, so I guess I've gotten a bit of practising in it.

The armor is too cartoony , the staff doesent even look like its being painted apart from the eye on it , the highliting on the robes need to be blended alot more and the horns and skull are waaaay too boreing... it looks like you just painted it white . so i d say just practice more on the points ive highlited.....good luck.

I'm assuming this is jokey sarcasm, so I'm not going to make a big issue about how wrong he is. But he is wrong, it's a really nicely painted mini that 99.9% of gamers wouild be envious of (including me).

Yo, o0shotty0o, I'm really happy for you and imma let you finish, but I'd say Gwar! is the best troll of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I think the mini is very nicely painted and I fit into that 99.9% category that Flashman described.

I actually wouldn't say shotty is trolling, and i'll explain why. Some of the things he pointed out are actually correct.

The robe could use a bit more blending. The highlights on it are a bit striking, so blending those down would help the model overall. The staff too is a tad plain, and would definitely benefit from some highlighting on it, though i do quite like how the eye on it turned out. The bone does have some shading to it, though it doesn't seem to be enough to make the bone pop on its own, though it is close.

The armor (for my taste) has turned out a tad bright, though cartoony is not the word i'd choose. A light wash to try and subdue the brightness would make it more to my (keyword there is MY) liking.

Overall the mini is nicely painted, and the idea to use a different head is nice, though i probably would have picked a smaller horned one but that's just me.

It is indeed a model to be proud of. Great job.

Well, everything in this world could use a little fine tuning, but the way he presented his ideas weren't really warranted, and then in his next post he seems to bow upon his opinions as facts. Trolling confirmed.

I think this model is very nice! The only thing that's bothering me is the way the robe is highlighted on the back of the model. It looks a little rushed there. But the fire armour is awesome!

Look, lets just face it, this shotty guy isn't going to see the error of his ways anytime soon and he's just going to end up dragging us into a flame war with him, essentially bringing us down to his level.. AND for future posts, shotty, there is such a thing in the accessories file of your computer called the on-screen keyboard. Try that out if you don't have all the keys, as you claim.

Also, to chowderhead, I tried out an earlier version of mudbox once and all I could ever make was blobs.. Kudos to you for even making whats in your gallery, let alone better than that.

Hey Saintspirit, I just wanted to apologize for helping make what should have been a post about a well painted chaos sorcerer into a large immature argument. Really though, it is a very nicely painted mini and I don't think I'd be able to pull off that fire effect.

Shotty, why do you insist on trying to take away from a very well painted miniature? Despite your best efforts I feel like people are still going to, correctly agree, that is a wonderfully painted chaos sorcerer

There is value in constructive criticism. Few things are perfect, and if you can offer helpful advice, that's often more useful to the painter than just praise.

This model could possibly use a bit more work on the robes, and for my taste the effect seems to have come out better on the front of the armor than on the back (needs more black in the back, IMHO). But it is definitely a striking model.

An extremely important element in offering constructive criticism is to keep it polite and constructive, and to be supportive rather than insulting. When a person puts their sweat and imagination and effort into a creative effort like this, usually they are at least a little sensitive to harsh words about it, and it's important to respect that effort and offer critical feedback in the right tone.

I believe he is less concerned with a lack of grammatical accuracy in English, which is lacking but I digress, and more concerned with the apparent lack of respect or at least tasteful criticism of the original artist's work, which I can understand and, indeed, sympathize with. Though I can agree that I to am perplexed by the lack of understanding in my post, what confused yourself?

Sorry to join in, once again but.. Mannahnin is a mod. Everything he just said is true and it's for these reasons that people are getting mad at you. You're not going to be left alone if you keep provoking people with rude, abrasive, over critical comments on peoples hard work. A big aspect of painting is self esteem. Feeling like what you just spent hours or days on is worth that time. It may not always be the best, but you tried. And having people acknowledge that and compliment that is part of the motivation to get better. C+C is meant to be helpful, not deter painters from painting.

Oh dear. Didn't expect this to become such a big discussion... But I do in fact agree that the back if the robe could be better made, I think I'll fix them. And I suppose I should have mentioned that his staff isn't completely finished... Tha black parts are not pained in any way as they are supposed to be made out of obsidian, so I thought I should put on gloss varnish to make it more shiny - however that is absent right now.
And about the armour being too bright, well, it's supposed to be! It's hot, you know!

Looks really cool, do you have a model for all of the other lores as well? :O
Hah that would be fun indeed, I might do that if I get some unexpected money...

Damn fine paintjob on that fire effect! The shading on the robe might be a tad bit better blended in my opinion, but overall it looks just amazing. Great job.
