Hey all, just wanted to share some pics of my current WIPs for my Tau army... Looking for C+C or ideas for improvements. I have my own fluff for this sept that I created and the Dreadknight conversion/kitbash (my XV-12 Suppressor Wardrone) is a heavy support option allowed in my LGS. With the help off rules development forums, here and Warseer, I have rules for it that are quite balanced and some fluff developed to explain why my sept have chosen to create such a large walker. Anyway please check out my color scheme and offer any advice you can garner from the crappy pics. Also, remember these are works-in-progress and I still have a lot of details to paint...

I would say give the metalics a wash of something, and apply dry-brushed mettalics to the engine bits (vents, intakes, and exhaust... etc)

barring that, marveouls colors!

I think that the black needs a little something extra. Like a slightly lighter shade of.. black.. before the final highlight of grey. Other than that, and some details which you said you just hadn't done yet, I think these look sweet! The red is nice and solid and red! And that TauKnight is turrriffying!

you're right, but I think some sort of a dark blue, like.... necron abyss for a highlight might make the colors pop

looks good man! The colors turned out great!

although now I have a much clearer understanding of why white is such a bad color on minis... one can't highlight it with anything, so it always washes out (not a criticism, just an observation of the color's behavior)

Yeah, aside from the incredible pain in the ~!@ that it is paint over black, white cannot be highlighted. But it does look great, in person (IMHO), on models when paired with the right colors! I just wish I had a better camera and more photo-fu for taking better pics...

Very nice! The painting is very crisp, and the white is nice and smooth. I like the color scheme, and the amazing conversions! You'll be one proud hobbyist when this army is finished, that's for sure.
