So guys, I just wanted to talk about how awesome this Friday evening is. I'm sitting down here, watching Lord of the Rings, painting my assault squad, and sipping on a brew. It's a totally great evening. Gonna bust out the airbrush in a little

When you guys paint, are you totally focused and not much else is going on around you? Or do you generally find yourself enjoying a nice movie in the background, and generally relaxing?

I always leave something noisy in the background when I'm modeling and painting.
Makes it seem less sad and lonely...
Really though its just so I've got a distration from concentrating too hard and getting a headache

I only put on a movie if I've seen it before and I've done so recently. I'll often put up Daily Show episodes or podcasts to listen to while I paint, like the Independent Characters. I haven't had music on for a while, but I used to just cycle through Starcraft and Dawn of War soundtracks.

Usually leave it quiet since I have to avoid disturbing others, but some music helps me concentrate if the option is available.

I desperately need third party noise, I can't concentrate without it

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

I was having a drink (Jameson and ginger ale), watching LOTR, and working on my orks as well. I guess great minds think alike.

Over the hills and far away.

I find it hard to paint if ive got a movie going because im so easily distracted so i usually just run some music in the back ground instead. I find the sultry sounds of Motorhead, Napalm Death and Katy Perry far eaiser to paint to then the explosions and gun battles most of my movies provide.

Can't beat classic rock (I use VH1 Greatest Rock Anthems) or I put Aliens on in the background, I love the move and have seen it close to 100 times now still not sick of it, and great to paint to!

Game over man, game over!

I usually paint with nothing going on in the background - which can lead to the startling realization, that I spent 2 hours painting and didn't notice the time going by so fast ;-).

Check out my Warmachine and Malifaux painting blog at http://ik-painter.blogspot.com/

As always, enjoy and have fun!

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

I usually have either a cat on my lap killing me to get some attention, or my boyfriend on the opposite side of the room talking to me about some game I don't understand. If those are missing I get people walking in talking about either their work, or Star Trek. And if those are not enough to keep me distracted while trying to paint I have the loudest neighbours ever with the loudest chickens ever who are always willing to provide a bit of background noise.

Music? Movies? I need none.

I unwind while painting by talking to her ^ about games she doesn't understand. I'm careful to make sure they're games she doesn't understand, though, because it's more fun that way

Other than that, a bit of music is nice. In my case predominantly Nightwish or Sentenced

Nice guys! It's pretty interesting listening to what others do while they paint, dunno, for some reason it just fascinates me I guess it's the psychologist in me. Anyway last night was awesome and today has the potential to be way more awesome as I just picked up a box of Death Company, Astorath, and Meph Beautiful models, especially Astorath. I have 10 of the old Death Company models (metal) and the new ones are so, so gorgeous. I cannot wait to bust out my airbrush on these guys.
