So a friend of mine was arguing with me over this point:
Can an IC be deployed in a vehicle with a squad? In this instance in particular, can an IC be in a drop pod w/ a squad and deploy in a drop pod assault?

A similar question is brought up in the Tyranids FAQ:
"Q: If a Tyranid unit takes a Mycetic Spore, can an IC join the brood before deployment (and hence deep strike in)?
A: No."

I hope t his helps, but, it is 'Nids, so...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

In Codex Space Marine, Please note there is nothing preventing the IC from joining a squad in a Pod and deploying with them.

Yes, they can.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Ya the key to understanding the nid faq is simple: every single ruling was 'against' them, regardless of any other faqs, or game rules, or anything that might help them.

To the OP: yes ICs can deploy inside transports with squads as long as their is room in the vehicle.

Yes. The IC may be joined to the squad during deployment (p48). If the transport is a dedicated transport, you are given explicit permission to deploy IC's with the unit (p67).

If the transport is a non-dedicated transport, then the unit may be deployed embarked upon it (Rulebook FAQ, p7). Since the IC is part of the unit, there is nothing preventing him from embarking in it also, so long as the unit's number doesn't exceed the transport capacity.
