I've often seen people claiming that vehicle damage results count towards combat resolution in multi-assaults that involve both squads of infantry and non-walker vehicles. Doesn't this rule only apply to damage results inflicted on walkers?

Only to Walkers, not non-walker vehicles.

I believe it does only apply vs walkers but I am away from my book so I can't give you a quote.

BRB pg 73: "Each roll made on the Vehicle Damage table against a walker count as a single wound for the purposes of working out who won the combat."

I used to have a DE player regularly pull this on me, multi-charging a couple rhinos and a grey hunter squad with his beastmaster unit, then claiming the glances/pens from the razorwings counted as wounds for combat on my GH's. Smelling something fishy i looked it up and it was a misinterpretation of the above rule. Problem resolved.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

For all intents and purposes, normal vehicles (ie without WS) cannot "assault" and aren't "locked in assault", and share nothing in common with normal assault procedures from their side of the bargain. They're just there to get their hulls hammered
