I was sat around yesterday not doing much and started messing with square bases and super glue. Before you know it I have a torso chassis and I decided to work on it so the missus can have an Orky vehicle for her army.

First foray in to scratch building something (Is it a kit-bash or scratch build?) especially anything Orky and I wanted a bit of feedback to see if I'm getting the idea.

Disclaimer: Completely ignore ANY paint on the model, I'm going to be painting to match the better half's army scheme.

Idea of how it'll look assembled


I'm working on some kind of power plant and a 'face plate' for above the jaw as well as a rokkit, a Kustom mega blasta and two more arms. I'm also going to green stuff the chassis shut and do some cleaning up in a few places.


This is made from the following:
Arms and legs have been hacked off a walker model I got free with a copy of Red Faction
Pelvis joint is the lid from a capri sun drink
Torso is made from: Rhino front, smale scale jet fighter model, square bases, piece of turrent from Aliens APC, plow attachments from a couple of rhinos, copper wire
Hydrolic plant is a piece of the Red Faction walker, cotton bud sticks, green stuff and copper wire
Burner is made from the weapon attachment from an old toy, cotton bud sticks wrapped in solder, dead USB pen cap, mechanical pencil nib
The plating is made from green stuff and random pieces from my bitz box

looks awesome but possibly a little bit spindly? main torso looks solid and all good, the arms and legs could do with more armour and gubbins to bulk them out and I fail to see how that claw can crush and crump anything without destroying its own burner... With all the C+C out the way it does indeed look awesome so far and very characterfull.

It didn't occur to me about the burner arm but now I think about it, it makes sense and I think I'll make it a full weapon arm and have a rack of rockets or a Kustom Mega Blasta on it.

I've just knocked up a batch of green stuff for plating and I've knocked up one of the should pads for the klaw arm.

I've got some old scenery bitz like the girder tank traps so I'll hack them up and whack them on too.

Dont forget to ork itup, right now itlooks too clean. Also, the leg joints could use some wiring or something just to fill that gap betweenlegs and torso.

If this is to be a deff dread then you need more weapons and arms anyhow. How about some sort of twin scorpion tail kinda thing with a gun on one and a buzz saw on the other?
