Knowing that wargamers are a learned and intelligent group, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about Nostradamus Quatrains.

I know his work has been endlessly re-interpretted, but did GW originally when laying out the 40k Universe use Nostrodamus and his predicitions of the Anti-christ and the great hero (or Ogmios as translated by some books i have read) their inspiration for the Emperor?

The emperor is supposedly from Anatoyla (Area around Turkey I believe), I believe Ogmios is believed to come from this region. The emperor guides humanity, through various guises, and Ogmios is supposed to speak the truth to his followers and lead humanity into a new era. I believe Ogmios is also an old deity here in Wales (the old orignial Celts) when my forbears used to dance around fires and run away from the Romans. Any thoughts?

P.s. I have also heard the term Ognion as well?

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

It wouldn't surprise me. The amount of history, literature, and media that's been absorbed into 40k's fluff is astounding.

Considering how heavily influenced 40k fluff is by mythological and historical events, probably. Normally GWs references are less than subtle. The Council of Nikea springs immediately to mind.

I believe most of the GW staff from the early days were history and pseudo history buffs so I wouldn't be surprised.
