Slop paint on, then clean the brush and attack the splotches with water.

It will break the paint up and pool it unevenly around the model as it dries.

It looks bad at this stage, but you just want the effect of different levels of white. The greens and glow paint will be absorbed into these at varying strength, so the blotchier the better.

In a shallow dish with a little water in, make a wash out of green paint and a little white. Layer the drops in one on top of the other to make random mixes.

Give the blotchy ghost figure a bath! You'll be using a different mix of paint every time you dunk the brush back into the pool, without even trying.

Any questions?

Nice job with the ghost effect. I thought about trying to achieve a spectral effect with reverse highlighting, doing the deepest parts of the model the brightest and making the highest parts the lightest. This is a good (and faster) alternative.

Great technique - maybe the green should be a bit brighter, like scorpion or livery green - this would add to the effect IMO.

I'll try putting some scorpion green in the mix, but Im not sure if it could get brighter.

I mean, I'm using glow in the dark paint. Its taking in light and sending it back out. Brighter? Brighter?!

Yeah, I guess it could get brighter, lol. I'll try the scorpion green, and putting some extra white in the deep recesses. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I would try white prime with a green wash and some gloss varnish.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
