I played in a mini event this weekend and lost my last game (because I was unable to fulfill my objective) due to my opponent simply playing slow. I could tell it took a while for him to understand things and he was not all there given that he was one of those freaks who talk to his models. I am sure I could have made a scene and complained to the TO, but it was not worth it as I had no way of winning the event at that point. I am just curious of people have run into this and how you dealt with it.

Also I was curious what people thought about "Eye Premeasuring?" This is the practice of putting out your tape measure to the length of the attack and holding it in the air to see if minis might be in range. I have seen a few oppoenents do it, and in my opinion it seems like a shady thing todo almost to the point of cheating. Your thoughts.

What's wrong with talking to your models?

I talk to my models all the time, nothing wrong with it.

I tell my guardians that if they are good little girls and hit with their bright lance I will put them on the top shelf of the display cabinet when we get home.

I sometimes stroke my falcon mid-game too, I think it makes it luckier.

I have been known to yell "Stop dying you cowards!" at my orks a few times...

As for floating extended tapemeasures... it happens... It doesn't really bother me a whole bunch as the gain is minimal and someone with good estimation can have the same advantage and I would be forced to play them still if they could eyeball it.

Slow play is always an iffy subject because things always seem slower when you are waiting for someone else to do something. Everyone claims slow play but so many of the phases are interactive it is really on both players. Also, it is unfair to blame opponents for events having too short of a time period for games which seems to be an issue a lot with many 1-day tourneys. Lots of claims of 'slow play' are more like '2500 points in 2 hours is unreasonable.'

The floating tape measure is premeasuring, just straight up eye balling in fine. Although we should probably just start premeasuring because you can probably bet dimes to dollars that it'll be in there in 6th.

As for slow players, speed them along, tell them what they hit on what weapons they have and how many hits they have. This requires you to know their codex as well which shouldnt be a problem. This might come off as being a dick but no offense I dont have all day to watch you brain fart.

500pts should take nor more then 30 minutes, against good opponents I can get a 1850pt game done in about 1 hour 15 minutes, my record is 7 turns in 45minutes at 1750.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

My eldar told me that they were jealous of my blood angels having 22,000 pts.. So now I must build up my eldar to similar levels or they will murder me..

Nothing weird about models talking to you!.. Oh wait you said "talking to your models".. Well I guess that also occurs
