Subject: What happened to Ordo Hereticus?

I have taken a long break (about a year) from GW as a whole, and I went to check on the official site about my current army I'm modeling up, ordo hereticus. It seems though that the army has reverted back to Sister's of Battle? They completely removed the Inquisitorial end of the army?
Thanks for responses.

Pretty much yes. The units for the 'new' Sisters of Battle are in the August White Dwarf. The points costs and such are supposed to be in the September White Dwarf.
All of the Inquisition stuff has moved to the Grey Knights Codex.

I like the separation of the Inquisitors from the SoB, but to tell the truth, I'd rather they be created as a allied force to all IoM factions, not just to the GK. It would add diversity as a whole to army lists and would sell more figs for GW as IG and SM players would pick these guys/gals up too.

I also like the separaton, but for an entirely different thing. I love the SoB, but I HATE the Inquisition. By putting them in diferent codices (aparently it's the correct plural for codex) now I don't have to buy a book for an army I despise.

If you want Ordo Hereticus, you will need the Gk codex and Inquisitor Coteaz as an HQ choice as he allows Henchmen as a troops choice.

I'd have to see the GK codex, but I liked the fact that they were in the SoB codex simply because I could have a stormtrooper army. But I agree with Lobukia that a separate Inquisition codex would rock.

Ok, thanks guys. I am sad about no witch hunters though I loved the ordo heretics inquisitor and their retinues.
I sure hope they do an inquisitor codex. The sob are cool maybe even better without the inquisitors.

They're still around, just not emphasized and Hereticus Inquisitors are still options for the GK Codex, and I imagine a future SoB one as well.
Inquisition has gotten the shaft the last year. Daemonhunters became the Grey Knights and Witch Hunters became the Sisters of Battle, the Ordo Militants have taken the spotlight from the Inquisitors who are now just mentioned as support. Though I do think it was good to return to the SoB's roots as the military arm of the Ecclesiarchy, most of their focus in recent years had been on Inquisition activities.
Really by this point I think an Imperial Inquisitor/retinue should be an option for any Imperial-army (yes, even Space Marines). It would fit the fluff where they commonly work with Guard/Astartes/SoB and GW doesn't seem to know what to do with the Inquisition anymore.

GW had hoped that the "Hunters" books would get people into the inqusition, but it was never really that popular a line or force focus which is why they are now once again relegated to support status. I really liked my daemonhunter/witchhunter crossed force that could be played either way with stormtroopers as the troops and IG or Marine support (Or GK and SoB support). Sold those minis off before the new GK codex. Realized that I just didn't have time to play them anymore and after the codex came out I was glad, because I couldn't have played them the same way anymore anyway.
I wouldn't mind seeing them as either an HQ or Elite support choice for any Imperial army. Inquisitor Lord (w/wo retinue) for HQ and regular inqusitor (w/wo retinue) for elite just like in the old codex books. Also keep alive the special missions from the original books too where the enemy commander is possessed by a greater daemon or has developed dangerous and crazy psychic powers for their to be a reason for the inquisitors to show up. I really liked those themed games. Also had fun with my fallen inquisitor force supported by multiple daemon hosts and his private army (ie. Imperial guard). Brings up a question for me: Do daemonhosts even exist anymore in the rules?? Just curious realized I never looked for them when I looked through the GK book...

Yes, they still have demonhosts. I was very disappointed to find out, upon reading the GK codex that I just got, that you can't have inquisitorial storm troopers anymore. Sure, you can have warrior henchmen, but at BS3? Come on, they need to make something that can actually shoot. I also dislike that you have to take Inquisitor Coteaz in order to have henchmen as troops. I'd rather not waste all of those points on a single model.

I agree.
I also think that Inquisitors should be a standard HQ entry in all Imperial codexes, with a caveat that which Ordo you choose unlocks certain options from the relevant codex. So a Space Marine army could choose an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and unlock access to troops choices from the GK codex, or an Imperial Guard army could choose an Ordo Hereticus codex and unlock troops choices from the Sisters of Battle codex. Or something like that anway.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?" |

Feeling the same.
They should do a codex:Imperial Allies, with Inquisition, Ad Mech, Mentor Legion and perhaps Legion of the damned.
But I really miss Fraetis Militia or Zealots for the Sisters, Zealtos were a great addition.

Or something like that anway. My feelings exactly, though I'd brainstormed it as an Inquisitor in the HQ slot (takes up a HQ, but doesn't count as the mandatory HQ) and his associated unit(s) (Sisters/Deathwatch/Gray Knights, depending on Ordo) in the Elites slot. They wouldn't overpower the feel of the army, and most Imperial armies would really have to consider the opportunity cost of losing those elites slots. Unfortunately, losing Elites is not an effective balancing factor for the Guard, but I''m going off on a tangent now... As said before, all 3 Ordos make an appearance in the GK codex.

I wonder more of the Ordo Xenos, why no deathwatch is mentioned in either section, or is it because you can make a deathwatch force and just run it as a SM vanilla army or a grey knights army but the hate is on Xenos instead of Deamons?
