Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew how the howling banshee models come: do they come in metal blister packs but with the head removed? I really need the howling banshee to arrive with a detached head so I can convert it into a female farseer with an Elven or dark eldar head of sorts.

Thanks in advance!

There are two Guardians in every squad of ten that are female. That might work, but of course you would have to add rune armour either way, etc.

Is it easy for me to take the head off of the metal model?

Actually probable not. It is from what I have seen going to be very tough to take the heads off.

Well it kind of depends on you definition of easy. If you have a cut off wheel, a decent amount of patience, and a steady hand I suppose you could guillotine a howling banshee and cut of the hair in the back.
It world be easier to use a plastic guardian female Or whack the head off an existing farseer model.

Heads CAN be removed (depends on how much you want to keep the bodies, though - and whether you are any good with the Green Stuff otherwise).

Otherwise, one of the Autarch sets has a more ornate Banshee mask head and it IS a separate piece (which you can add to a 'female' guardian body).

And if you get the farseer model with the staff and pistol, older version, the head is seperate to begin with.

Yes you can cut the head off a metal model, but it will be a pain.

I was planning on sticking a basic female elven head or eldar head and greenstuffing some hair and an ornate cloak. the howling banshee aspect armour has the 'femme fatale' look i'm going for,

the banshees are 2 piece models the arm and the rest of the model. the head comes off actually pretty easily, I did the same basic thing for a warlock. since you aren't looking to keep the head just use a saw and a drill and you can get it all out with out hitting the armor and its simple. I'd use the exarch model and not just a normal banshee. It looks a lot better.

It's a solid quarter inch of white metal maybe more, unwilling to caliper it ATM. Easy is not a word I would use to describe it's removal. The armor in the rear of the model is covered to a greater extent by the hair itself. I'm willing to look at my set again for the sake of argument Piggy but I think you are well intentioned but mistaken.

No, it's 'easy' once you are familiar with the procedures.

Not easy for a complete noob.

ah, very good, to bring you up to speed, some other companies out there are Scibor and Kromlech.

The problem is that Chapterhouse out and out says that they manufactuer stuff for GW's line of games, and thats landed them into some hot water and a legal battle in the states. If you are interested in their stuff, it might be worth ordering sometime soonish in the event they are forced to shut down.

Chapterhouse might be a way to go, but if you are dead set for conversion, I forgot who mentioned it, but credit goes to banshee exarch

PS
ah, 'twas piggy

true, but her in New Zealand we pay 30% more per model than anywhere else (except aus), so a banshee exarch is a little bit out of the question since I can only get them in packs of 6 but i can get normal banshees in packs of 2.

I pulled out my HB pack for another look, I'll take pictures in detail of the head/neck area and leave my opinion out of it.
Chapterhouse sells solid stuff, I hope they stick around.

To be fair, I'd never heard of them until a month or so ago when I started hanging out on Dakka again, and I've been in this hobby for more than 20 years.

You might be better off waiting for them to be available in finecast (much easier to cut the resin) and getting a single model off of eBay. Even with shipping it'd probably be cheaper than buying locally.

Banshees
Scorpions
Spiders
Dragons

This makes my dream of building a true wild host with mounted aspect warriors 7-9 years from becoming a reality (starting the day they failcast the last aspect).
HBs at least were not failcasted the last time I checked a couple days ago

I think striking Scorpions are also fine cast, Also really a simple fix and with eldar armor being smooth and no detail its actually easier than most armies to do. cut off the top of the head and drill down to the armor, and if there is in fact hair, just file it down so its smooth. trust me its actually pretty easy. Buy a cordless drill and it makes everything a lot easier.
