Somewhere Between Baal and Armageddon

I'm building an APOC/Standard terrain world based upon the Armageddon sector. I've been working on some basic desert ruins, and I'm well on my way to completing the Rok. I want to build two more fortress sized pieces. One of which will be a chaos warpgate now reactivated but covered with great ruins from their 1st war invasion (ie GK and SW corpses)... Secondly, I want to do a Fortress Monastery... or Stronghold... or something, perefeably Blood Angel themed, but I have to know a lil more....

What kind of garrison or stronghold or fortress would be standing or setup there from previous wars?

Does fluff leave any justification of a Nid presence?

I'm at your window

I'm building a Armageddon game-board myself i'm building the hive city helsreach. i would say build a Fortress monastery. And for Nid's they could attack but orks are the main problem on Armageddon.

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Thematically, Armageddon is about the Orks, not they Tyranids, but if you desperately want them to be there, then yes, there was canonically a Genestealer cult uncovered beneath Infernus hive in the wake of the second war (detailed in the Armageddon campaign for Space Hulk).

If it helps, here is a full listing of the Imperial forces deployed during the 3rd War of Armageddon.

Crap. The Ultramarines havent been there and two of my peices of terrain feature them: one a crashed landspeeder and another a waagh banner with a tortured marine there. Curses!

Every piece of terrain will have some trace of imperium/ork presence, but I do have one piece that has nid infestations as well as a genestealer cult-esque objective marker, so I wanted some that (and we have a Nid player in our ranks)...

Bah! I should just build a Baal Monastery.....

The Ultramarines were at the 2nd War of Armageddon, so it still fits.

How about we get the 3rd war over with before we move on to the second? If Ghaz wins then there might not be any imperial factions.the nids might be attracted to the amount of green flesh and then that would be another Ork vs bugs war.

I'm confused. Why would the 2nd war come after the 3rd war?

But your first post still doesn't make sense. Unless you meant to say 4th and not 2nd?

Given that, in canon, the 3rd War for Armageddon is still ongoing, dreaming up a 4th seems rather superfluous. If you want a situation in which you can have Orks, Tyranids and the Imperium fighting, Games Workshop have already provided quite some detailed background of the ongoing war in the Octarius sector

There are no Fortress Monasterys on Armageddon as it is not a space marine world.

Black Templars would be best fit for your garrison not sure if they were in the 2nd war but were in the 3rd war and are well known for building garrisons on planets they fought on. For both re-arming and recruiting purposes.

The second war was just the Blood Angels, Ultramarines and Salamanders. When the Armageddon board game was published, the Black Templars' background had yet to be developed.

Ouch. The Ork player I game with also has Nids and Black Templars. Surprise! I suppose for a future 4th war/contested 3rd war Armageddon, the BT would be the best choice...

Being a BA player it'd be nice to fit their fortifications there though... It definitely wont be a Ultramarines stronghold. I'll be torn abou BT and BA for the time being Current BA fluff has them mounting up for a huge Chaos/Nid offensive on Baal... but with no recent BT codex... who knows wtf they are doing...

Hmmmm...

Your slightly wrong on that point, BT have hundreads of Fortress Monasterys on hundreds on non astartes panets, the BT recruit from all worlds they deem fit that they have fought on, and guess what they fought in the third war one of the largest contributers as a matter of fact, so they would very likley recruit from there which means they would make a Keep there.

That is because they haven't finished figting there,so it would be stupid to build a recruiting post on a war zone, which the entire planet is.

If you desperately want there to be one, it wouldn't defy logic for the Black Templars to have established an outpost of some kind on Armageddon. However, the further you depart from the established Armageddon fluff, the more sensible the suggestion becomes that you might as well either invent your own background or set your campaign in some more appropriate established location.

I'm with English Assassin on this one. While Armageddon is cool, and a big planet, it is a Guard and Space Marines versus Ork fight here. So, Nids are rather out of place.

I would think that creating your own sector would be better, as not only can you add or take away any faction (new people join in the group, some armies get dropped, new armies come in, etc.) It also allows you and your group to have a bit more leniency with Characters. Make your own Captains, Warbosses and other leaders. Allows you to make your own histories and not have to follow GW if the fluff DOES continue.

But hey, it is nice to have guidelines to follow from time to time. And if your friend's Orks ARE led by Ghazskull, then perhaps it is fate.

I said nothing about them having a Fortress there just that they are the moat likely to.

My friends Waagh is almost always, ok its always, led by the Thrakka himself. He just loves that 2+ invulvernable too much to change. Armageddon also opens a doorway to do a Death Jungle piece with Snikkrot elements, Wazdakka appearances, and we all know Badruk (sp?) fights in every major battle!

Pirate ship anyone?
