Well my Midwar armored car force is getting some action again after some months of EW league play. Finally remembering to use roads more effectively again, which is good. Switching from mostly tracked and half-tracked EW div cavalry to wheeled armored cars messed me up in my first game back in MW.
Just played a game against a MW german tank company made up of PZIIs, 38ts, STUGs and a single Tiger I in a Fighting Withdrawal. My armored cars did a good job of putting the stomp on his advance and in turn 7 my opponent suddenly realized that he was no where near an objective and only had one option left. He double timed his Tiger I to get closer to the objective, enabling my Crusader III tanks to move in and take it out with double rate of fire from the side. Ultimately, though, what won the game for him was taking out one last armored car and forcing me to take a company morale check.
Every time I am forced to make such a check I fail it. EVERY FREAKING TIME!!!!!! I may as well not even have a company commander in my games because of that. Hahahahaha. What should have been a satisfying stalling victory ended up being a loss at the last second.

That's not as bad as when my Brit paras utterly failed at the perfect sneak attack.
Point blank 6 pounder shots into the sides of semoventes, with a full platoon of paras with all 3 PIATs ready to assault the tanks and infantry behind them, backed up by a Sherman.
6pdrs get 3 hits, 1 bounces, and double 1s on the firepowers for bailures. None of the PIATs even hit.
Sherman fails to kill the single infantry base contesting the objective, gets killed on the counter attack by that infantry.
And my paras fail their tank terror check...

Had a bad matchup with some Brits vs my Bersaglieri; played Encounter mission on clear desert terrain.
I deployed my two companies of infantry near the objectives and the Brit guy rolls out 9 Bren-gun carriers on my left flank.
My turn, i fail to dig-in (Mobile Battle rules for this mission) with 1st company; 2nd company does like-wise. His Bren carriers roll-in, and unleash mg-hell on me. I fail a good number of saves, maybe leaving three stands. Platoon check fails, they run off the table.
2nd company tries a mad-dash to cut them off as the Bren carriers are within range of the objective (move-at-the-double). His turn, he moves the Bren carriers closer to the 2nd company and shoots them to ribbons.
2nd company fails motivation and runs......mission was done in two turns and was the worst showing for my Italians....lol!

I'd give you a mea culpa on the first company. I seem to be as successful at making rolls to dig in as I am with company command checks, but....moving at the double into such massed MG fire really was complete and total suicide. Mind you if you hadn't you would have had the same end result of the game ending by turn two, but just sayin'.
Sounds like a really painful game to me, but on the bright side meant you had plenty of time for a second game before heading home.

LOL! true.....it was one of those moments where I thought, maybe I could survive enough to stick around and hopefully my reserves could come in and assist near the objective.
Was painful, but quick lol!
And yeah, we went on to the next game as that one maybe lasted 10 minutes lol!
We were playing a campaign for MW North Africa, but my Bersaglieri, with the above exception, seemed to always outfight my German Allies lol!

The germans had great respect for the Bersalieri on the battlefield. They were good soliders. Their commanders generally sucked, but the troops themselves were well trained, disciplined and hard fighting.
