Hi all,
I've been thinking about starting fantasy for a while. It's always been the magic that's interested me and now SoM has got me interested in monsters as well.
So, i'm going with High Elves, however; for now at least I'm saying to hell with a legal army I just want to get a decent collection of monsters and magic for now.
And so I ask you can anyone field any of the new Storm of Magic Monsters or is each race limited to a few or excluded from a few race-specific ones or what?
Can High Elves take a manticore for example? Or a chaod war mammoth? Or a beastmen razorgor?

Yup, any race can have any monster. So that High Elf army with Exalted Bloodthirster is a go!

No limitations (except point costs) within Storm of Magic. Enjoy the freedom, also of using Vampire troops or summoning any troops.
Some people prefer choices not contradicting background, but this is personal preference, not rules. And you can sometimes create individual stories justifying weird choices.
Outside of SoM games, the usual restrictions apply.

So can exalted daemons, (especially an exalted great unclean one) take a fulcrum?

I haven't looked at the book, but yes, as I understand it from my friend, he can if he is a caster. I think they start as a level 3, right? I don't have my daemon book in front of me...so I don't remember if you have to buy each individual level or not. But yes, if he is a caster, he can take a fulcrum.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Whether you want to put an Exalted GD model on a Fulcrum or not is up to you though.
