So yeah, I'm a Chaos Space Marines beginner, just started building my army with my codex, using this forum for help, when my friend calls me and ask him to help him build his Grey Knight army with his just recently bought codex. I look into it, and just can't believe how it seems more easy to use. Also, I checked the website of GW and noticed that the Space Marines Chapters each had their own codex, and by that I assume they all have their variant of rules and statistics. So I look at my CSM codex and think: I am on the edge of seeing a new bunch of codex for the CSM legions (example: The world eater legion codex, the thousand sons legion codex, etc)?

Codex: Chaos Space Marines is a 4th edition codex, so it's a lot older than the Grey Knights codex. There are currently rumblings of a new Chaos Legions codex. This book is supposedly going to be centered around each of the Legions, leaving the current Codex for Renegades. There likely wont ever be codices for each Legion, at least never in the foreseeable future.

Yes, Games Workshop is updating the older Codices, although they probably won't have enough time to update all the current non-5th Codices to 5th. As for when the Chaos Codex will be updated, no one knows. There are rumors that Chaos will be involved in the starter set of 6th edition, but that is just that, a rumor. We don't know for sure.

This new Chaos Legions book is also supposedly going to be released next year, after 6th edition arrive. Just something I forgot to add. But yes, like Walrus said, its unlikely that Chaos will be updated this edition.

Kk, hopes the CSM will have more awesome options. The ones they have are okay, but compare them to the GK ones, and you kinda feel little if you have to run a game of CSM versus GK.

GK are very good against Marine armies in general due to their power weapons. The CSM codex came out during an unfortunate (but thankfully brief) period where GW codices were stupidly simplified. Backlash prompted them to go back to more options and things have been better since. It's kind of a bum deal but you can do well with it with the right unit choices. Against GK, I don't think I'd go to battle without a Vindicator or three.
