So im thinking of starting a space marine army in spired by the book starship troops and armor and was wondering which codex to use.
My ideas are: Space Wolves because they are shooty and have acute seanses.
Blood angles: for the deep striking. But st/armor troops where more shooty
Vanilla: flex ability

So fellow dakkaites any ideas?

To be clear i mean starship troops the book.

Thanks

You didn't think of using the tau? The side with actual battle suits? (They can deep strike and have acute senses.)

But ya I say blood angels for the deep striking.

I want to use marines because its the closest to the books. They wore power armor and orbital assualted or teleported into battle.

Discription from the book
Spoiler:
A Mobile Infantryman is equipped with a Powered Suit as well as an arsenal of weapons at his disposal, some built into the suit. These weapons range from conventional firearms to micro-nuclear warheads. The armor is strong enough to resist any conventional weapon less than high explosives or anti-tank rounds. The servo-motors give the wearer enough strength to crush a tank or tear through a concrete wall, but are dexterous enough to allow them to pick up an egg without breaking it. The armor is also equipped with jump jets and rockets, allowing the trooper to move rapidly about the field

I reckon the closest thing to a Heinlein starship trooper would be an entirely Terminator army that drop pods in.

Use the regular Space Marine Codex.

It would probably fit your needs.

Use drop pods with tac squads, and terminators, and dreadnoughts.

A loganwing is a particular Space Wolf codex build using the character Logan Grimnar to get Wolf Guard as troops and then outfitting those Wolf Guard in terminator armour...
You can also get a Deathwing in Codex Dark Angel and Draigowing in Codex Grey Knights (so i'm told)
However in the Sw codex the terminators can take drop pods but cannot teleport in... this is sort of a bonus and sort of not.

Ah. I always thought the armor was big. I don't know about them telporting though. I thought it was all drop pods.

I say the more important aspect is the deep striking. It's the first thing I think of when I think of the MI

Okay. I see. And yeah mi was dropped in. In Armor they where teleported in. So which codex is best for deep striking. If i stick to my concept i have to limit myself to just infantry. So no rhinos or land raiders. Thinking ba for the doa. And doesnt dark angles have some special deep strike rules?

DA might be good for it...

And you want jump troops too. Seeing as all there armor has jump jets. Though you might just be able to fake it them not using it by calling them green troops.

(that's why I thought of battle suites at first. They deep strike, have jump jets, and they can take all kinds of MI type gear.)
