I was curious if anyone on dakka played the touhou games, since I just got my copy of touhou 13: ten desires, and have beaten it on normal.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I just finishe ten desires on lunatic, and I have to say, it's pretty good, but I love underground animism and imperishable night.

Huge fan of the series. I mean, granted, I suck at them, but I love them anyway.
I've got a particular fondness for Scarlet Devil and Imperishable Night, seeing as they're the ones that feature my favorite characters - Sakuya and Remilia. These are also the only ones I've actually managed to get the Good ending on anything other than Normal on.

that's understandable, that's why they made shoot the bullet, where all you have to do is use aya to take pictures of all your opponents. I think more people like the fluff more than the gameplay, especially since nico douga is chock full of music videos for touhou.

I bought mine on ebay for $30 since j-list is still taking pre-orders for a game that's been out for a while now, and don't reccomend buying anything from there. I would say go to ebay, but there's copies selling for $200. My advice is if you pay over $35, you paid too much. hendane!.com is updating their shop, so they'll be down, and amazon isn't carrying it. They're pretty rare, like I told my fiancé, if only you could waltz into gamestop and buy it.

Can someone explain to me what exactly Touhou is? From what I understand it's a bullet hell series made by one guy, but everytime I do some googlin' I'm accosted with tons of information on this expansive fiction. It's like it's a franchise with its own EU Star Wars style.

How do people extrapolate so much fiction out of a bullet hell game? All these characters and stories; the whole thing seems impenetrable.

I guess its because Touhou is one of the few bullet hell games that makes the characters a focal point.

I mean do you seriously want to try to make fanfiction for Gradius?

I like bullet hells and actually had no idea this was one.

There's one called shoot the bullet, where you play as aya syameimaru, and the whole game is you dodging bullets to take pictires of the denizens of gensokyo.
