Pinesol is a pretty risky bet. It works well for some people but not for others (many have reported their models melting in Pinesol). There are a ton of tutorials for stripping paint from models on the net and right here on Dakka. Concentrated Simple Green is the product most people recommend, you can find that at your local auto parts store in the cleaning section. Just dunk 'em in, leave them submerged for, oh, 48 hours, say, and clean them off with a firm bristled tooth brush then rinse. If there's still more paint on the model than you prefer, repeat the procedure.

Here's a link to a helpful article

Hope that helped.

Simple Green is much better for stripping models.

I found some stuff at the local dollar store called "LA is totally awesome" its a weird name yes but the stuff works wonders, it doesn't damage the models and it only takes a day or even a few hours sometimes depending on the model to get the paint weakened enough to take it off with a brush.

I like super clean. You can get it at Ace Hardware.

i have used all of the listed cleaning products and others to strip minis.

do NOT use pinesol EVER.. it WILL melt your models!!

Simple Green will work but its on the low end of the cleaning scale, it works but its not as good as other products.

Purple Power is better than Simple Green in that it works faster and strips more paint and primer.

Super Clean is the best that i have used. it will strip paint and primer it is a very fast acting cleaner but a days soak will be the best time before scrubbing. Super Clean will also turn CA glue white and make it brittle so if you want to buy second hand models and worry about poorly built or inproperly trimmed/built models Super Clean is the way to go.

Ex nihilo

If you paint it one color, and then put down thin strips of tape, then drybtush the othe color, careful to avoid too much moisture which will run under the paint, you can get a striped effect very nicely.
Really the only limitation to the striping effect is how small you make the tape strips.

which is why when doing stripes is really great to use liquid masking as you can pensil in your borders before you apply the liquid mask and trim the area to be painted.

also great for any place that tape cant get to.

I've had a bit of a disaster priming some plastic/resin models as the primer has come out all lumpy - this simple green stuff you speak of - do you use the 'all purpose cleaner' on these type of models? And do you use it neet? (Have read WarOne's article but just want to double check - didn't even realise you could strip plastic models and I don't want to melt them!)

I'm not sure what you mean by "neet," but you just take your miniatures, put them in a container (tupperware?) deep enough to totally submerge, then dump your SG in until all the minis are covered.

No water, just use it straight. And don't dump the cleaner after you're done, it can be used a few more times before it gives up and stops working.

I like Mean Green (Dollar General) and Clorox Green Works as well for stripping plastic.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Eye of Terra.

I find paint stripes impossible to do by hand as I always seem to reach for the tape for clean edges. You might consider a stencil.

I meant 'neat' not 'neet'! Just wasn't sure if you should dilute it or not as I've not used it before. Thanks for the advice

i noticed a thread on here before for a good paint stripper called biostrip20

i ordered some last week and gave it a try and it stripped the models in about 1 hour 20 minutes without any damage at all, fantadtic product if not a little bit more expensive compare to others

I saw that thread as well. It's a bit of a goop, isn't it? My only concern (besides expense) would be losing small bits, and the material being a "1 time use only" deal rather than being able to re-use it like SG, ya know?

@MonkeyH:

No problem, any time
