Because the current CSM codex is crap, and mainly represents renegades rather than the forces of Chaos?

There is Rumor that Gw is making a new army for the 40k. Chaos Renegades. This will include Trailor Guard, Rogue Psykers, and Cultist. This is rumored to be release with the next 40k edition next year.

All of the various cultists are gone. Genestealer cults, chaos cultists, SoB zealots all of them.
Damn shame really.
And there's no longer any way to put marines and guard in the same army, no more deathwatch or GK allies.

I shall be a happy heretic indeed if the rumoured traitor legions/renegades split turns out true. Ideally with new codices for both.
I also continue to live in hope that Forge World will some day get around to models and rules for Genestealer cults and hybrids. We'll see.

Rumor is that there's going to be a Chaos Legions codex, and the one we already have is Chaos Renegades. There's been no chatter of what is basically a LatD codex whatsoever, as much as I'd like there to be one.

In the meantime, there are the renegade lists from IA 5, 6, and 7 (THE SIEGE OF VRAKS) that have IG-type cultists (primarily) with a sprinkle of Chaos Space Marines, if your gaming group lets you use them.
Here is the pdf for the Renegades list from IA 5. And here is the FAQ for it. There are 1 or 2 named dudes in the IA 5-7 books to go with these lists, but they aren't that great.

The Lost and the Damned are in desperate need of a new army list and some official models, especially given how prevalent they are in lore. Releasing a 5th Edition Codex: Eye of Terror would do it. Traitor Guard, Beastmen, Mutants, Apostate Preachers, it'd be beautiful.
There's no chance of of these coming out in the near-future though I imagine, the Codex: Chaos Legions rumor will probably be 100% CSM's again.
Lost and the Damned and Adeptus Mechanicus are the two most important factions in 40k that get the royal screw treatment from GW imo.

The printed edition of the Witch Hunters codex has a section in the back with rules allowing the adversarial player to take heretic forces in addition to their standard army list, such as cults, mutants, and some HQ choices. It's not a complete list, nor is it as fully developed as the FW stuff or the old Eye of Terror material, it might be worth a look if you're really curious about cult units and have a Witch Hunters codex handy. The old Chaos Marines codex (3.5) also had some cultist units, in the Alpha Legion section. I think there was one unit, a Troops choice, though I don't have that codex handy ATM to provide more details. Neither of these will let you play a fully rounded heretic list, though, nor would they be usable in a GW event. I'll throw in a second vote for Vraks. Haven't seen the Astral Claws list.

What's wrong with fielding cultists, demons, etc. With marines In friendly games?
My group does stuff like that all the time and have really great games. Just because something gets written out of a rulebook doesn't mean your group has to stop.using it. I know there's more than enough wit among the various posters here to make excellent house rules and army lists.

Nothing. In fact, GW has provided lists that include IG with Chaos Marines ( IA 5, 6, an 7) in addition to IG with Space Marines ( IA 9) as mentioned above.
They aren't the best lists, by any use of the word "best", but they allow a fluffy and still competitive army.
But to just willy-nilly throw Leman Russ Tank Squadrons and Vendettas on the table to support your assault marines jumping out of land raiders could lead to some broken lists very quickly.

"Its rumoured..." ¬¬
The Imperial Armour codexes include the rules for using Chaos Space marines alongside human cultists as already stated, though I hadn't realised that GW were daft enough to remove them from the list at all already. In the case of the Witch Hunters, its still legal to use the Chapter Approved Zealots units for them if your wanting to field them. =P

Maybe some people here can write an own codex and send it to games workshop (or not).
If it went well, dakkadakka gets more stronger, and grow famous.
IF people are going to do that, i want to help you

Nothing at all, indeed that's how I'm used to playing the game, but, having returned to Warhammer 40,000 after a decade away, I have observed that the tournament-driven attitude seems to have become the norm amongst players, whether they're interested in competitive play or not, at the expense of narrative and fluff. The studio haven't helped matters - the proliferation of special rules for units and armies and the loss of transparency in points costing makes it significantly more difficult to design and balance custom units and lists than in the past ( viz. Rogue Trader and 2nd ed.).

The assault on varks book part 1 is really cool.
I want GW to make special chaos guardsmen, isn't it a good idea if the chaos guardsmen have a bit higher skill than IG guardsmen? Because they are posessed or something.
I'm really looking forward too them! even though i never played a warhammer battle xD
