It would be nice, but it would require a significant change in Games Workshop's policies which I don't see happening any time soon.

I hope so. At least you can still order BFG minis from GW's online store, and the rules for the game are free for download from GW's site.

I don't play it myself, but I can see how it would be very nice for the BFG players still left, to get a nice update.

As part of the Badab war Forgeworld put out some new rules for BFG. There were some vague rumours that forgeworld were going to release the unique ships, but that seems to have dried up. I wouldn't put it beyond FW to put out additional rules in future Imperial Armour books. I think that's the most support that we'll ever see for the foreseeable future.

No...I'd love for it to, but no. Same for Epic, Warmaster or Gorkamorka..

I guess it's possible if they are going to do a "mystery box" every year. They could re release the original boxed set, with expanded rules.

Thing is, I personally would be happy to see the odd BFG article or BatRep-same for Epic-just to keep the game in the conciousness of players; especially newer players who have no clue how fantastic these games are

It would be nice, but the game is actually fine as it is.

the rules are fairly balanced, and most of the problems were solved by the FAQ/addition that was done here https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw_dULEfC3rbYzUyNjQzZTAtMDZiMS00ZjRlLWJjNzMtYTE5YmNjZjdjODQ1&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

BFG,Epic,Warmaster, etc dont get the same love from GW because at one time GW pushed them all equally. WHFB and 40K came out on top. New stuff for most of those other systems will likely come from FW. Think SM Drop Pods. FW had them for how many years before GW moved them to Citadel production?

I wonder why Epic at least hasn't taken off. I know the minis are small, but there really isn't any way to truly play 40k without the Epic-ness of an Epic battle played with Epic looking Epic miniatures.

When someone plants a Titan on a game table for 40k and after the initial wow dies down most people I know let out an audible groan as they look at the ridiculous battlefield before them. Not to mention having an IG player with his armored vehicle parking lot.

I love the game, but those visual instances just give me gas.

I agree that of all the Specialist games, BFG is the healthiest. It has a thriving internet community;Epic is also alive and well.

The basic reasons why BFG et al are "specialist" is basically down to money. Buy a box of BFG, or Bloodbowl, and there's no need to buy anything else. Similarly, you can buy a decent sized Warmaster or Epic Army for half the cost of a 40k army.

When GW went n the stock exchange, it re assessed it's product line; those products it could make most money out of, it concentrated on, everything else was reigned in.

Epic and BFG are superlative rulesets, but with the advent of Apocalypse then huge battles can be fought with 28mm models-helped by FW's range of "real" scale Titans. The smaller scale games need a bit more imagination to develop a sence of scale. To me, when I play Epic, it's amazing to see a dozen LRBT's race across my kitchen table. The scale, though, doesn't appeal to GW's target demographic. Shame eh??

Personaly, I think it'd be nice if specialist games like Epic and BFG were just kept in the public eye. Maybe a nice campaign, or an occasional Eavy Metal article.

The only thing wrong with it, as I see it, is the terrible models.

Well, as they are pretty much unsupported, there's no reason to use GW models anyway; there are lots of small scale model lines to choose from.
Also, you have to remember that the GW models are pretty old-they are of their time. The FW models look much better-but there's no chance of a re sculpt any time soon, eh??

Actually, the BFG models, IMO, look pretty great-especially the Eldar ones..

BFG and War of the Ring. If people still actually played them, I think that they would get some love. Of course the Hobbit movies are coming but BFG will likely wither away and die.

Thats just it. Lots of people play them. It's a chicken and egg sort of thing. They need some love from GW to get some from players.

As for BFG dying, well they havn't yet and they've been "specialist" for what? 5 years? More? With the internet fan community, ebay, and so forth, I can see it going on for a long time yet.

Maybe the specialist games should be liscenced to another company....

A couple years ago they released those Adeptus Mechanicus ships. It's one of those projects that will occasionally get a little love, but not terribly often. They were showing demos of it and other specialist games at Games Day this year though, and that bodes well.

It would be really cool to run a massive campaign with BFG as well as normal battles, but I don't think the status of specialist games will really change any time soon. it would be nice to have inquisitor updated properly though... I really like the thought of 40k rpg

Well, there's always Dark Heresy, Deathwatch, Rogue Trader and the upcoming Chaos version if you want a 40k RPG.

What you really want is to run one or two BFG games, then an Epic campaign with some 40k games-in a way you are zooming in on the battlefield from large scale to small. You could even incorperate some 40k RPG....shouldn't be that hard...

When people talk of the special games like bloodbowl and BFG I have a hard time seeing some of them just disappear. I have no doubt that just like in 40k or any game the small portion is online chatting while the greater majority sits by and plays without adding to the discussion.

Clearly BFG sells because I see rules books, sometimes in the newly arrived shipment boxes, the models are on display at one FLGS and they move around regularly, so even if it isn't played somebody is building and painting the models.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...HAHA..HA.ha...oh boy..ah haha....ha.........oh wait you were serious?

not a damn chance in hell, GW don't care about any specialist games any more, they were far too popular and ended up taking too much space up for 40k, the number one system they want to plug, they don't want people wanting to buy there product if its not the one they intended they buy.

you just have to come to the conclusion that if you wanna play it you better have a good size bedroom, a table, and a friend who isn't a marine fan jock

I doubt BFG will go away. too many of the studio guys play it, and it has a large player base.

the rule set is solid and doesn't need updating, since the FAQ.

If anything, it becomes a ruleset that is entirely played with OOP models.

That said, there was a brief blurb about BFG in one of the What's new Today posts a few months back with some pictures.
