What kind of a list are you looking for, competitive or fun? I might be able to help you out depending on what you want to play.

Sorry, good point,

Just a fun game at my local gaming club, not for anything serious like tourney play.......although i would still like to win.

I have no idea what army my opponent plays as this will only be the second time i have been to the club.

I play iron Warriors and i like to try and make quite fluffy lists when possible, hence the Vindi and 'Blitz.

While a Dreadnought is fun, I prefer Defilers They are really fun to use as they blast pie plates at the enemy as well as being pretty decent in assault, and as long as they don't destroy it it will always be able to do something, I would try and fit one or two of these in your list

Give me some time and I'll have a full fluffy/fun but also decent list for you

Cool. My original heavy support list was gonig to be a couple of Obliterators and 2 Defilers. but i never seem to have decent luck with them.

What do you think about goign all Pie-plate? Lose the 'blitz and go with 2 Defilers and a Vindicator?

Just been talkgint o the guy onlien and i think he will be bringing either BA or Orks..not sure which though.

How about this list:

HQ:

Daemon Prince 175
MoN, Wings, Warptime

Troops:

10 Marines 245
2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Champion, Power Fist

10 Marines 245
2 Meltaguns, Rhino, Champion, Power Fist

8 Khorne Bezerkers 233
Rhino, Champion, Power Weapon

Elites:

Dreadnought 110
Plasma Cannon, Heavy Flamer

Heavy:

Defiler 170
TL Lascannon, Extra CC Weapon

Defiler 170
TL Lascannon, Extra CC Weapon

2 Obliterators 150

This will be a good all-round army to use as you have a fair bit of ranged anti-tank and also 3 plasma cannons, the Dread has been given a PC so it isn't too bad if he rolls a 1 when closest to your own units

i think you're the first person to put up a suggested list that doesn't inlcude any plague marines!!

Looks lpretty good. I've always been a bit wary about putting LCs on Defilers as they already have a S8 cannon and they cant fire more than that and move.

I'm like the though of the PC on the Dread though.

Don't get me wrong I love plague marines, you just wanted a fluff list and standard marines are dirt cheap for fun games!

The TL Lascannon will give you the variety you need at long range, if you go against those orks or BA and they have a mech army, you can use the LC to take down the Lasbacks or Battlewagons, if you're up against the footslogging army then it's the battlecannon you want It also gives your opponent a tough decision against a WD result, a battlecannon is nice against vehicles too because of ordnance, but the LC is there for AV12-13 too. you could save yourself the 40 points and spend it elsewhere i guess, your choice

Ah, gotcha. Will have to check if my opponent is ok with proxying.

I'm a fan of both the original liast and the suggested list but with one small concern.

Drop the heavy weapon from your dreanaught.
The only good shooty bit for a CSM Dred is a Missle launcher because you can switch to frag missles if you go crazy! LC's and PC's are just asking to burn your own troops!

Technically, the dread is supposed to fire at the closest unit regardless of friend or foe, with intent to kill. Firing frag into tanks goes against the spirit of the rules. Your opponents should not let you get away with such shenanigans.

Personally i am in the camp of it fires on the closest unit thing in LOS with regards the firing arc of its weapons. Therefore i always deploy my Dreads on the front line to minimise the risk of "blue on blue".

But lets not get into the dreadnought fire frenzy LOS debate here.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement, It is cheap and cheesy and takes the flavor out of the rules.

Unfortunately in Tournament play flavour goes out the window because you have to deal with so many people who don't care and just want to abuse the fine points of the rules all day long It's the nature of any competition really

But other than that I will respect the OP's wish and not continue the debate any further

Game went well. Ended up taking the dread in the end, for all the good it did. Rolled 6 in turn one, it charged the closed enemy unit which happedn to be a BA Furioso Dreadnought, and got ripped to shreds.

Ended up taking 2 Oblits and 2 Defilers as Heavy support. They got killed in the end but took a lot of fire and allowed by 'zerkers and CSMs to move on his objective (Capture and Control game) unmolested for the most part.

Yeah. managed to hold off his assault troops and keep my objective safe. he blasted me off his own objective in Turn 5 but didn't have anything that could hold it himself in range.

Even managed to kill a death company Tycho....although it took a squad of berzerkers 2 turns and a late intervention of the deamon prince to do it.
