Subject: Using Sisters of battle with a Space Marine army

I've recently been flicking through the Witch Hunters Codex, and I've noticed that Sisters of battle can be allied with Imperial units like Imperial Guard and Space marines. I'd quite like to add a squad of Battle Sisters to my own Space Marine army, but I don't know if I can do this or not. Any help?

Not any more, no. That Codex is now out of date, the new one being published in this and last month's WDs.

Best you could do under the present rules would be to use Sisters as counts-as warrior inquisitorial henchmen with power armour and bolters in a Grey Knights army. If/when they are rereleased in plastic, I'll be doing just that.

Getting rid of this 3rd edition rule was maybe the biggest incentive to do a quick WD Codex for Sororitas.
BTW welcome to 5th edition

Well, as the second part of the codex doesn't get released for another, ah, 7 hours or so, you've got time for one last game, provided you have a print copy of the Witch Hunters codex!
Otherwise, there's always Apocalypse.

Personally, I wish they would bring the concept of allies back. I liked it, and thought it made the game a bit more interesting.

Well that's a bollock. Games Workshop don't seem to be very consistent with the rules they keep banging out over the years. A shame since I like the SOB models, and they're just so damn expensive.

I just realized, do White Dwarfs come out this early? I was on holiday recently and snagged the second part of the sister's already.

Actually, GW has been quite consistent with getting rid of this 3rd edition relict, and they stated this intention for several years, e.g. when they released the pdf-Codices with the allies rules removed.

I saw that in the PDF and immediately called bull gak. That's how the codex was designed. Until they were replaced with actual codei I considered the exclusion of allies as an oversight and pure bunk. Now fixed.

I used to run an Imperial Guard army with Gray Knight allies. It worked really well for me. (Maybe too well?) If you want to use allies now, the simplest way to do it, IMO, is either play Apocalypse, or else agree with your opponent to bring two 1,000 point armies and run them as separate armies.

GW has decreed that Imperial forces never work together, BL books and common sense be damned. Soon they'll give Inquisitors the boot altogether as well.
Anyway according to GW all SoB's do when they work with Astartes is get killed, so maybe it's for the best.
