Painting Within the Lines

I had been browsing the GW website as I do everyday I saw the new Ogre Kingdoms models. And quite frankly these are some amazing models! I especially like the Thundertusk/Stonehorn. This may possibly be my new favorite model and I probably will juts get on for the painting.

Ogre Kingdoms Ninja Maneater
Ogre Maneaters are veterans of many campaigns fought in far off lands. Travelling mercenaries beyond peer, they have spent decades accruing scars, tall tales, wealth, exotic wargear (including come very fine hats) and new skills before heading back to the Ogre Kingdoms. Maneaters have fought throughout the Old World and beyond and many races attempt to recruit such fighters into their armies, promising food, gold or whatever else the Ogres want in return for their services. It is the pay that matters, not the foe, although with some contracts Maneaters are awarded fallen enemies to eat, so in those cases the enemy may matter. Ogres will eat anything, but they have their preferences.

Being such a well-travelled bunch, Ogre Maneaters will often be equipped with unusual and exciting weaponry. This particular Maneater has learnt the ways of the ninja, a noble, but unlikely, form of warfare for a race so large and uncoordinated. To make sure he is not seen at night, this Ogre has covered himself in ninja bandages and wears stealth ninja sandals so that he will not be heard when he is sneaking up on his prey.

This has to be a joke -.-

Well, yes, but not a new one... That's one of the original Maneaters from the Ogre Kingdoms army release.

all the maneaters are kind of an in game joke with the pirate, ninja, and lady you get a little horde of ridiculousness...but yeah as insaniak said it isnt new I like the other maneaters though (imperial, araby, paymaster). And I agree with you on the Thundertusk/Stonehorn... I'll probably buy one just because they're an awesome model.

There is no joke

There is nothing funny about getting mugged from behind by a 1 ton ninja.

There is even an equipment build for a Ninja Tyrant in the current book. Glittering Scales, Fencers Blades, and Greyback pelt. can only be hit on 6s by EVERYONE, even a Bloodthirster

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Thundertusk seems more practical than the Stonetusk variety. Its frosty aura makes all enemy units within 6" ASL (but not Ogres cos they is tough see), quite handy for supporting low initiative ogre units.

Better IMHO, although not if you weren't planning on fielding Leadbelchers (but why wouldn't you?). I'm not a fan of Gnoblars either to be honest.

Well if you have enough spare 20mm squares, you can easily create gnoblars with all the spares you get

I think I like this battalion better, more ogres is always better (at a convenient online retailer of course though)

All Ogre Bruisers are tough killing machines, but Bragg the Gutsman is an executioner extraordinaire. It is always always always worth challenging enemy heroes or even Lords with Bragg. He will simply crush lowlier types and, even Chaos and Vampire Lords will get trickle-legged with dread before his Heroic Killing Blow special rule. What's more, when Bragg slays a foe in a Challenge, the enemy unit is Disrupted - ensuring it cannot count its ranks towards combat resolution - a great boon for an Ogre Kingdoms army, which often outfights an enemy, but can seldom match or negate their rank bonus.

Skrag

I believe every ogre unit sold is now plastic/resin. Even Greasus, Yhetees, Gorgers.

Glad they are using flesh-colors for Ogres now. That old grey just iddn't do anything.

I personally don't like the new ogres. They look more like obese fat kids.

Is that Skrag model new or old? I picked up the white dwarf but somehow didn't see that one in there...

New! It's finecast, afterall. You can see all this stuff on the GW homesite under advance orders:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat440004a&rootCatGameStyle=

Ogres always looked like fat kids. Now they're just plastic fat kids. Some of the newer models are much more muscle-y though.

Actully it's the same sculpt as the old metal.
I do like the new ogre look, a bit more filth would make them look more brutish and less plain fat.

I think the models look fething brilliant.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I'll second that, I think these minis are great. For all my vitriol directed at GW, even I admit they make some really fantastic models.

I don't think so. It's not HUGELY different, but you can see changes. Though I never had the original metal, so I don't know what, if any, choices were available.

They have a new "getting started" section on Ogres. It has a bunch of the rules if you read it all.

Gathering the Informations.

Honestly, grey Ogres looked okay--but it was a really finnicky thing to pull off well.

Too grey and they looked like the Undead.
Too fleshy and they looked like Humans.
Best place to go would be a 50/50 mix of Grey and Flesh with Ogryn Flesh washes to brighten up the skin.
