A large unit of Bloodletters really benefits from having a Herald of Khorne with them (re-rolls to hit).

As for the HoT, I don't understand why you would take Winged Horror over a Disc of Tzeentch. Taking a Disc of Tzeentch would allow you to get a Spell Breaker with the remaining Daemonic Gift points.

2. I really wanted to try mono-Khorne, but due to the above I also want to use magic so I'm a bit torn...I'm willing to concede the HoT pair for the sake of using magic but other than that I would like to field pure Khorne.

So without further ado, my pitiful attempt at a list:

490: Bloodthirster - Immortal Fury, Armour of Khorne

160: Herald of Tzeentch - Master of Sorcery, Winged Horror
160: Herald of Tzeentch - Master of Sorcery, Winged Horror

390: 30x Bloodletters - Full Command
246: 18x Bloodletters - Full Command
246: 18x Bloodletters - Full Command

285: 3x Bloodcrushers - Full Command, Icon of Endless War

Thanks!

Don't use a Bloodthirster. Do this.

Divide your points by 3.

1 Third of your army is a Herald plus as many Bloodletters as you can get with the rest of those points.

The second third of your army is a Herald on a Jugger plus as many Bloodcrushers as you can get.

The last third of your army is Flesh Hounds.

In 8th, if you are just kicking it with buddies, you can make do without magic.
If you are playing at the FLGS, or any kind of competitive play, you'll loose 9/10 games if you don't have any kind of magic defence.
The first time you get Dwellers from Below/purple sun/skaven 13th/ infernal gateway/ flames of the phienex cast on your units you'll want some magic defence.
It's sad, but the blood thrister is not what he used to be. Not being able to break ranks, and the steadfast rules means he is a sub-par lord at best. If you look at what 500 points of heralds can do, you're better off with the heralds.

All you need is magic resistance to counter the magic thrown at you. Make the units larger and then drop magic items that provide magic resistance and you're set. Your Juggers have MR1, Flesh Hounds have MR 2 or 3, and throw a decent Herald of Khorne and you can buff your MR for the unit up. They all have a Ward so you should be able to save a good chunk of the spells.

lytera94 wrote:Thanks for the input; I guess my poor Bloodthirster is out, but at least this way I can convert a nice HoK pair.

1. Can I get by with zero magic users in the list or will anyone else's magic just shred me to pieces?

2. What exactly is the role of Flesh Hounds? I originally intended to include, as unlike seemingly so many I actually like the lizard models, but they struck me as just weaker Bloodcrushers.

Thanks!

1. Khorne has Magic Resistance and you'll be in their grill on turn 2.

2. The role of Flesh Hounds is to drag your opponents mans out into the backyard and bury them. Flesh Hounds are stone cold murderers and stupid warhamsters make the costly mistake of thinking they're just dumb dogs like chaos warhounds. And then they get murdered. All of them.
