I cannot decide between clanrats or plague monks...Is there a noticable difference between them on the field? I want to have an entire army of clan pestilens or clan skryre which one, doesn't matter. Any advice on which one?

Clan rats are a core choice plague monks are a special choice ur comparing apples with oranges.

Invest in the army book first will make it much clearer.

Ok thanks, I really know nothing about skaven and I have only played 2 games of fantasy so Im a total beginner here :p I'll get the book first and Im looking at the battalion.
Btw, Between stormverin and clanrats... stormvermin would be the choice (not taking the price into consideration) right?

Plague Monks can be selected as core if you take Lord Skrolk (level 3 wizard and psycopath) but he is a major points sink and has NO save of any kind.

The basic Skaven strategy these days is to sit your general and BSB behind deep blocks of slaves that will basically not run away thanks to the combination of strength in numbers, inspiring presence, steadfast and the battle standard re-roll. Whilst your opponent wastes his time cutting up 2 point models, you hit him in the flanks with something nasty. It doesn't make for particularly exciting gameplay though...

Despite its cheesiness, this build is pretty appropriate to how a real Skaven general would probably operate.

Slaves are the "best" choice for core. Skaven do 2 things well. Big things and numbers. You'll be using 100+ core models at a decent points level.
