Hi guys

I am looking at starting dust Tactics/warzone however after looking at their site I am very confused on the scale. The website lists both 1:35 and 1:48. Any idea what scale the core sets use and why is there different scales?

I think the problem is that the original dust miniatures were resin cast 1:35 - and lovely they were too.

Fantasy Flight's Dust Tactics are 1:48 and really nice models and a fair bit cheaper as well.

Get the boxed Starter which is a steal for what you get, but be warned you always get the itch to buy the new stuff - sadly this is a wargamers lot in life....

The DUST miniatures are pretty much heroic 28mm scale, so a few millimetres taller than a standard Imperial Guard, but with a human proportioned figure! I would completely ignore the 1:48 marker the DUST guys have given the miniatures, at least as far as I can see there's nothing 1:48 about them.....it's very misleading.

That said, the miniatures are quite nice, they take paint wonderfully. A word of warning though, don't pay out for the "studio" painted stuff.....it's not worth it! I bought some and it's probably equal to a good gaming standard, no more.

I have since matched the studio paint job, it took me about 1/2hr to work out their colour schemes and get a quality match....so based on that, I'd say it's not worth the extra you would pay!

Man down, Man down....

If she hasn't already picked the newest core set up for you yet I would recommend talking her into trying to find you a copy of the original core set, its a much better value then the new one, it comes with roughly double the models, double the dice and terrain tiles instead of posters at only a slightly increased cost.

I've recently started painting my dust stuff up, and I was suprised how nicely they painted. Before I started painting I broke the joints of the models and fixed them... I also reprimmed my models. Now if I can only get the main guy I play against to let me put barcodes on the backs of my Nazi Zombies... On second thought that might be alittle much... What with him being Jewish and all.

A barcode? Jewish POWs? I think you may need to check your history on that story? Plus, if that were the case, most jews would be offended by most every product in the world.....considering, well, they have barcodes.....don't you think?

Plus the fluff for the Zombies mentions nothing about them being Jewish prisoners or even Nazis......in fact, the Nazi regime was overthrown, according to the DUST fluff, and those zombies are actually dead AXIS troops.

We both stand corrected on the barcode...
