Hi guys,

still in the process of assembling my new CSM army. Last night I opened the box with the Chaos Terminators as was kinda confused that it does not contain enough Lightning Claws to equip all of them with those. Now, how should I assemble them. I magnetised the Terminator Lord I already assembled earlier, and that has two Claws delivered with it. I thought I'd try a squad with dual Lightning Claws only.

What are your opinions on this?

Thanks and regards
Murenius

I like the idea of some with Lightning Claws and some with Power Fists. Give em the mark of Khorne and that's a lot of killiness. A bit expensive though...

Termicide squad - Combi meltas and chainfists. Deepstrike against enemy heavy vehicles.

Assault squad - Lightning claws, chainfist, MOK. Load up in land raider.

Support - Stormbolters and Autocannon, Only use if there are alot of terminator squads.

Yeah the lack of lightning claws, or weapons in general with the termie sprue is disappointing. You can get a pack of lightning claws from GW in the space marines bitz, or on ebay you can get sets from various SM and SW sprues.

I've never tried the proper assault termies because I don't want to fork out the extra cash.

If I use Termies now, theyre always in Termi-cide squads. Combi-meltas, Power Fists, and Chainfists.

I prefer DLC + MOS personally, however I'm a fan of termicide units as well

I'd say give them all combi-weapons (plasma or melta are typically best) and a heavy flamer.
Be sure to include AT LEAST ONE STR8 weapon, to ensure they can't be taken out in combat by walkers or monstrous creatures.
A couple of lightning claws can help too.
Potentially, any mark can work, but I'd recommend Slaanesh and Tzeentch as the best for price and durability respectively, whilst MoN typically isn't worth having as they already have a 2+ against small arms.

A squad like this can bolster your army by deepstriking on an icon where they're most needed, before the combi-weapons can smoke a target upon arrival. After this, they act as a tough, but slow, assault unit that can deter or at least slow down the enemy.

Termicide (3 termies, 3 combi-meltas & 1 chainfist) is quite popular, but personally I don't like using any of my units as suicide units...

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Hm, just found another Lightning Claw in one of the sprues from the battleforce. Thanks for the hints so far I think I have an idea now. I guess when I buy another teminator/sorcerer lord kit I will make it a sorcerer in terminator armor and use the LC for a normal terminator. Or something like that.

The "Internet consensus" is that termicide units with combiweapons and chainfist are the best.

But personally I also like three small units with reaper autocannon, using them not as suicide units (I found that at low point levels like 750-1000, small units with reaper are very effective)

I also like very much playing a 10men strong unit with the Mark of Tzeentch with 2 reapers and some combiweapons and chaifists. They are incredibly resilient against enemy fire and CC death stars. You can throw them in the heart of the action without caring about cover and they can deal a large amount of damage...
