So I needed about 6 meltaguns for my 'ard boyz list and I dislike using metal so what i did was take an IG flamer, cut off the hose, and nozzle, leaving a little peg on the end. I then took some multi meltas and cut off the melta ends. Drilled a hole in it and then glued it on the peg. My question is, is this an WYSIWYG approved conversion? It looks nothing like a flamer, and has the sterotypical melta barrel, and my list has no flamers in it at all. Will post a pic when i get home, forgot my camera when i left this morning.

That actually sounds legit. The effort you are putting into making it look like a melta gun(the melta barrel being the most recognizable part) sounds good. I would allow it in 'ard boyz.

Totally cool.
It's a conversion, that 1 you took the time and effort to make look reasonable with the right barrel. And as long as everyone looks the same or is obviously the same then your WYSIWYG quotient should be 1...I mean...you should be fine

My only complaint about it is that the barrel is not completly round, due to the mm barrels being fused. And I was 99% sure it was legit, but I was just double checking, still kinda new to 40k, (been playing since Feb 2010) Kinda surprised I made it to semis actually.
Edit. Also, I've been working on shotgun conversions. I've taken the basic lasgun, removed the barrel, and the magizine. Then I drill a hole where the barrel used to be. Again I'll post pic when i get home, but is this a good WYSIWYG conversion?

As long as all your meltaguns are like that, it shouldn't be a problem.

I had done that with a few in the past, from the tabletop they look almost the same with a neat guard feel to them.
I also have a few "shotguns" done up like that, as long as all of them look the same in the squad it looks legit.

The nozzle on the meltagun is the distinctive part, you should be good to go.

Thats how I converted my imperial guardsmen meltas. I had some templar meltaguns left from buying the upgrade set, so I just snipped the front of the lasgun off,and glued on the melta barrel. Jobs a good un'!

That's not the same at all though.
You used Lasguns, He used Flamers. The way the guardsman holds a flamer is more like a Melta. Either way should work because of the Melta Tip. His would just look more so right

This is a really easy mod. Works with flamer or grenade-launcher arms.
