Subject: Drop Pod rules question

Hey guys...I am getting back into the game again after a long absence and I have a question about drop pod rules...I was looking at the post about Space Marine Tactics here and at this line in particular:
First turn you either drop two Dreads with Heavy Flamer + Multi-Meltas on a flank or a Dread + Libby/Sternguard.
I thought that drop pods started off in reserves and you had to actually roll to see if the units entered the battle and that units couldn't come from reserve until turn 2 at the earliest.
Also, if I get a pintle mounted SB on a rhino, can I have it fire the same round that I have 2 marines shooting from the fire point?
Any help would be great, thanks!

Read the Drop Pod Assault Rules in your Space Marine Codex, Space Wolf Codex, or Blood Angels Codex. 1/2 of your drop pods, rounding up, MUST show up on turn 1. The rest are rolled for normally.
Unless you are playing Black Templars, who don't have the Drop Pod assault rule.
Not sure about Dark Angels.

The Rhino, and the unit inside are two separate units, you can fire with each of these units independent of one another.
Meaning they both can shoot, and they do not have to target the same thing, and you resolve shooting from the squad either before, or after the rhino, but never at the same time.

They do last time I checked, don't they? I swear I read it in the rules section where it talks about zeal movements and righteous doohickies.

We do, but it's not like everyone else's DPA.
