THE HOrus Heresy books are AMAZING...bloody brilliant.... my question is...why isnt hollywood jumping on these books to make a movie franchise? or tv miniseries???
Who would you cast for the first book? HORUS RISING

I think it would be a toss as to Sir Ian and Chris Lee for the role of emporer, as they are both sublime character actors.
Also it depends on how much CGI you were adding to the mix, but Alan Rickman is also very good and a great Voice actor so I would like to include him somewhere along the way.
And continuing with the CGI thing if there was going to be alot if you could also use Bill Nighy and David Tennant, but I am not sure as to what roles they would suit.

E're we go! E're we go! E're we go!

The actors really don't need to be from the UK. And to say that US actors objectively "wouldn't get it" is a load of crap. Hell, Robin Williams plays Eldar (look it up.)

The idea of only British actors is ridiculous. Actors go across the pond all the time. Look at Christian Bale. He portrays American's all the time (rather convincingly too).

Also, why in the name of holy terra would the human race 38,000 years from now retain british accents? In fact, why would they retain any accent we have today? If we could time machine forward into this time, assuming they speak english, their accents would be something we have never heard before.

Going by that logic, why would they even speak english in 38000 years?

Wasn't the Emperor from Turkey? (Or the equivalent) so they would more than likely be speaking a hybrid of text speak and Turkish

I think if Hollywood got ahold of the rights for the Horus Heresy, it would end up being an almost all female cast, and instead of Power Armor, they would have armored bikinis! Which I would still go to see!

Oh, and Kate Bekinsale in any role would be a win!

Because strictly speaking everyone in the hours heresy is a bad guy and Hollywood always casts English actors to be bad guys, therefore perfectly correct to have an English cast.

It's implied that st. George (who was Turkish) is in fact the emperor though also implies he was around a lot earlier than that under other guises.

Because the Imperium is right hand drive you'll note. And the "grim, dark" bit is clearly a reference to our weather.

If we could indeed perhaps avoid both randomly adding capital letters and generally being rude to other users it'd be much appreciated.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

They don't. They speak Gothic which is a mix of every language + Latin.

Generally speaking in 40k and sci-fi in general, British accents are used to give off a sense of diabolical professionalism. You saw it all the time in Star Wars where every Imperial Admiral/Captain was British. Generally I've seen Space Marines depicted as having American accents, with the exception of Ultramarines or Librarians or the like. The former is probably due to the Roman influence, and Romans always have British accents for whatever reason.

Whilst I do not agree that All the best actors and musicians came from the UK, I do however regonize that British Musicians and actors are some of the most influential pioneers for modern Rock and the si-fi & fantasy genres.

for example in Rock music; The Beatles, Rolling stones, Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, Blondie, Eyrithmics, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest are all british. (I know Blondie and eyrithmics might not be considered rock)
Hell even Slash aka Saul Hudson was born in England, and was infulenced by Bowie Whom he grew up around.
Also Hendrix moved to London to get away from americas lack of creativity at the time (maybe the war had something to do with that though.) but also met a guy with the last name of Marshall in london and together they designed what is now the staple cookie cutter amplifier for 80% of rock Bands out there.

In Movies Lucas moved the Starwars production to the UK. because of the lack of creativity and also the internal politics of hollywood, and I think that turned out alright.
Not to mention the underworld trilliogy vs the blade triliogy, I know which one I prefer.
As for fantasy do I even have to point out Tolkien?.

There are a alot of other ways that the UK has influenced Si-Fi & fantasy aswell, to many to name.

Although I dont think that this thread should be debate about the credibility of the OP's original statment, I do however believe that moving said hypothetical movie away from "moneywood" would benifit the move to no end.

and as for Bale doing a good american accent, it is a necessity for all british actors to be able to entertain the masses. (sadly most americans do not approve of anyody else's creative take on movies.) and even though I bag Hollywood it is still where most of the money is made.

"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

Errrrr...? Not to be rude mate, but you've spammed threads all over general discussion (most on topics that we already have), have used a judicious amount of capitalisation when there's absolutely no need for it, have been rude and dismissive of long-time posters, tout your own subjective beliefs as facts and then act all abashed and upset when people call you out on those things.

Your 'disease and pain' whilst terrible I'm sure, should have absolutely no sway on the topics you choose to discuss, the way you choose to discuss them, and how you interact with the people who discuss them with you. Though I'm probably another 'self-appointed' moderator to you so I doubt you'll heed what I have to say regardless....
