Master Raphael---?You fool, don?t question my authority.  Do you know what such wreckage could contain?  The possibilities are limitless?..barely anything survived the?..take Brión and Dávid?s squads, Grandmaster Leonus of the Ravenwing has agreed to lend the use of a Speeder Squadron?..use them to scout the area and make sure if they find anything that you report back to me immediately.?

Vet Sgt. Jamus---?Brión and Dávid, we are landing on the outskirts of an ancient city.  Scans show Unknown Xenos activity.  We are to take position in the nearest building and eliminate the Xenos threat?.Speeder Squadron Alpha will support us from the rear.?

Setup---facing me---4x4 table--3 Buildings (one in top left corner, one in bottom right, on in top right) crater in the center, and a hill in the bottom left between the two buildings.

Top Left Quadrant--Swooping Hawks chose to deep strike, warp spyders started in the ruins with the Farseer, the Vyper was behind the building, and the Guardians where in the edge of the building on the left.

Bottom Right Quadrant--Jamus deployed on the left of the building, Dávid deployed on the bottom floor of the building, Brión deployed on the top floor, the three speeders deployed behind the building out of sight.

 

After 3 ties to go first (1,4,1) he won first turn and took it.

1^st Turn---Eldar

Vyper Moves forward and kills one of Dávid, the Warp Spyders lose one to terrain rules, jump forward and fry 2 more in Dávid.  Guardian Squad fries 1 in Jamus.

 

1^st Turn---DA

Dávid rapid fires on the Warp spyders and kills 6, plasma cannon kills 1.  Brion kills 1 with plasma cannon.  Speeder 1 zooms forward and kills the last two warp spyders with the heavy bolter.  Speeder 2 zooms forwards and unloads on the farseer?4 wounds, saved all due to fortune?Jamus shoots the farseer?.5 wounds, all saved?yay fortune?Speeder 3 hits the Vyper, glances with a 4, rolls double 4s on the table +1 for open topped=immobilized and dead.

 

2^nd Turn---Eldar

No Swooping Hawks?.Guardians kill one from Dávid (5 left), the farseer moves and assaults speeder 2?whiffs.

 

2^nd Turn?DA

Speeder 1 and 3 unload on guardians and kill all but 2?pass Ld.  Everything else unloads on the Farseer?.takes one wound and the Plasma Cannon in Dávid kills himself.

 

3^rd Turn---Eldar

No Hawks?.Terrain rules kill the last two guardians?.Farseer assaults Jamus and kills one.

 

3^rd Turn---DA

Speeders spread out to wait for hawks, Dávid moves further into the building with the 4 remaining marines.  Farseer kills one in assault and takes a wound in return.

 

4^th Turn---Eldar

Hawks come in and grenade back Brion?do nothing.  They shoot at Brion with their guns and do nothing.  The Farseer fails to wound squad Jamus and is beat down with a bolter?.Jamus consolidates 3 inches to draw line of fire at the hawks.

 

4^th Turn---DA

All three speeders zoom forward?..12 assault cannon shots, 9 heavy bolters=all hawks dead.

Vet Sgt. Jamus---?Master, upon arrival we discovered and Eldar force, from what Craftworld we can not guess?.we engaged them promptly and cleared the city of them vile beings?what they were doing here we can only guess?We have 8 of our number wounded?we will take a couple of days to heal the wounded?I have sent the Speeders ahead through the city to establish a perimeter around the wreckage?.I will inform you when our search continues?.?

 

Master Raphael??You must press forward Jamus?take the wounded to the ruins, Thunderhawk Beta will meet you there and Apothecary Graden will heal them upon your arrival?.I shall see you soon brother.?

Casualties/wounded?.5 from Dávid, 0 from Brion, 3 from Jamus, speeders un touched.

 

Post-game?.Deepstriking the hawks allowed me to concentrate on his other units?I knew he would use his speed to jump up and bog me down in hth while peppered my other squads with starcannon.  I got lucky that I made all my saves but 1 (cover save) in the first turn from starcannons.  I also got lucky that he failed so many 3+ saves with the Warp spyders?.he was even fortuned?.re-rolled all ones and twos?that happened for all 10 warp spyders?.

His hero of the game?..Farseer for saving a bazillion wounds and killing to marines with and evil stare?

My hero of the game?..Vet Sgt. Dávid for killing so many warp spyders?they freed up my Speeder #3 to kill the Vyper.
