And I got to know this from WoW (Ensidia versus Algalon)

At last!!! It's comforting to know that there are other lovers of the 'repetitive beat' out there. I'm an absolute HUGE fan of Richie Hawtin a.k.a Plastikman and Justin Martin. As both DJ's and producers they are purveyors of the minimal beyond compare. To some people, listening to minimal techno might not grab them when listening to it at home but if you go to a club that has a suitably monstrous sound system and the right kind of lighting system providing the perfect atmos, it can REALLY blow yer socks off (and possibly the odd trouser leg too).
I recommend the above artists both as DJ's and producers. It might not be your thing but if it is, and you haven't heard of them before then you will be glad of the discovery.

There's something about the baseline that's so... soothing?

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
Here are some tracks that are on my current playlist for work. I just installed 4 QSC K12's into our large event area (~900 capacity), and I haven't properly tested them yet.
Probably my number one artist, their sound has been pretty unique, except for their last foray into more electronic music.
Oakenfold at EDC LV (I think they are using a few Martin LED panels on the front of the mixing stage, and feth that is a lot of moving fixtures!) I grabbed his whole set for this show from grooveshark. Pretty damn good.
What I imagine dive music would possibly sound like on some hive world (Eisenhorn Omnibus)

Combichrist - all pain is gone

Holy hell that's good. I don't really know that many industrial bands, the closest I've gotten is NIN, a very little KMFDM, and other bands that are obviously influenced by industrial music but aren't really all that industrial themselves.
Likewise with Techno. It's a genre I've not really explored and I don't know really know any techno artists, so I think I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread.
Just so I have something to contribute to this thread:
I don't know if this is technically techno, but... it's certainly some form of electronic music.
Really, electronic music in general is something I don't have much knowledge about but... well, I'm interested now.

Damn, this makes me want to run out and buy a synthesizer or a full blown digital audio workstation, even though I possess no knowledge whatsoever of the principles of synthesis, and only the most rudimentary understanding of how to play the piano/keyboard.

It's generally similar.

Well, yeah, playing a synthesizer is like playing a piano, but I'm talking about sound generation; LFO's, envelopes, filters, attack, decay, arpeggiators... I know the terms, but I don't really know what they are/what they do.
OK, I know what an arpeggiator does and I know what attack and decay are, but I don't really know how to program specific sounds.
