Is the effect of multiple Van Hel's cast on a single unit cumulative.
I have a specific example in mind, can it be cast on a unit of Grave Guard with Great Weapons to first cancel out their ASL and than once again to give them ASF?
I think it can be, but what do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!

I dont think so. If you cast it on graveguard with GWs, all that happens is you get a unit with BOTH ASL and ASF. You cant give ASF 2x IIRC.

You cast Vanhel's Danse Macabre.
Grave Guard gain the always strike first rule and re-rolls to hit.
You cast Vanhel's Danse Macabre.
Grave Guard already have the always strike first rule and can't gain it again. Grave Guard already have re-rolls to hit and can't gain them again.
As nice as it would be it doesn't work the way you want it to.

Awww Still, I suppose there isn't that much difference between I3 and ASL in combat anyway....

Sure there is. I3 is going to be the human standard value, so you'll be striking simultaneous or faster than half the models in the game. You're no elf, but you no dwarf either. Plus, you'll be striking before any other Great Weapons in the combat, and with Killing blow, so don't knock it too much.
Remember, you also get rerolls from Vanhels itself, so there's always that.

Huh, could've sworn I read somewhere in the main rulebook that something with ASF still strikes first even if it has a GW. Am I thinking Speed of Asuryan? Or just plain wrong?

Speed of Asuryan, Night. ASF plus GW equals swing GW at your I for non-elves.
edit for clarity.

As for the GG unit with great weapons,
You can cast Vanhels on them to remove the ASL, then if you have Speed of Light spell on a thrall they can be WS 10 IN 10 with great weapons, I think.
Lore of Light has done well for my vampires.

Or Timewarp them and then you're striking at initiative with double attacks. Scary scary unit. Makes dwarfs and certain kinds of empire builds cry.
