Okay so basically its like this. I read Blood Gorgons and got inspired by the idea that they dont worship a chaos god, but a smaller daemon, like a deity...(i know that means god, but a smaller one i mean). So they worship this deity (Unnamed) Who protects their homeworld from imperial eyes- clouds the minds of those nearby so that they do not sense the planet unless they come too close, in which case they pass a "barrier" and can see the planet. Their is planet is relatively medium sized. It is mostly a gas planet... the lower levels are inhospitable to most. The mountains from the center of the planet rise above the gas clouds into the atmosphere. The people live in cities built onto/into the mountains. Most people there are used for sacrifices to keep their patron appeased. each space marine, of which there are about 500, havent really decided, have their own picked artificers and slaves to tend to their armour and the like.they breed a specific "higher" strand of their culture, the warrior class, who are used as recruits. as mentioned in one of the novels, mightve been Soul Hunter, they say that space marines do not really need the gene seed in them after they mature as marines... they can be removed. thats the idea. they take the geneseeds out after maturity to prevent loss during battle.

The "Chosen", which are essentially neophytes, are picked from the warrior class as those who pass trials of strength. gladiator tournaments, psychological tactics training, and the specific tactic of their warband, which ill explain later on. its pretty interesting.

They are pirates... they attack forge worlds and agri worlds and hive worlds to get supplies and slaves as needed. but they venture out less than most, for they do not attacktargets close to their planet in the event of an investigation that might lead to their discovery of their homeworld.

Oh before i get any farther, they are a renegade chapter from the gene seed of the raven guard, who i like very much. Corax is a badass, and his name is freakin awesome. So the basic traits-black eyes, quick, agile, pale skin... the usual. During an assault on a small daemonic incursion, (Btw they did not initially live on this cloudworld, Corrom, until their patron led them there. They lived on a planet i dont care enough to name) they were along members of the inquisition and the imperial guard. after a failed assault on the seat of the crisis, the world's throne and capital city, the city of fallen skies, their leader, (unnamed, any ideas?) Was injured badly. When the imperial guard pressed forwarrd, they stayed back to stand watch over their master while he was in the apothecarion. The inquisition and imperial guard units decried them, calling them cowards and eventually a imperial guardsman comissar lost it-his men were dying without the support of the space marines. With a bad decision, he drew his gun and pointed it at the second in command, the chief librarian (names?). the librarian of course beat him to death... and the imperial guard attacked. The inquisition also attacked, and the space marines fought. Many were lost, about half the chapter, and they retreated quickly with their master to a spot where they could teleport back and board landing craft to reach their orbitals. but without the proper care, the master was quickly losing his life... So of course the great daemon at the head of the daemonic army offered salvation in return for their master's life. All he asked was for them to kill all of the guardsmen and the inquisition members. After this, while the daemon's work was done patching up the patron, with who he now had a permanent psychic link to, they redoubled their efforts. with their new allies, the imperialists were quickly mopped up. the remaining loyalists fled to their ships, gunning down many space marines cruisers that were wounded before they retreated. the chapter was devastated... about 500-700 remained. The patron led them to their new planet and offered salvation and protection for eternal service and sacrifice. they set up on Corrom and began their raids, at first for survival, later for hatred, with new practices. Sacrifices daily, (oh btw, almost eternal twilight on the planet.) daemons were bound to service of the now sorcerers, who tapped into their powers. smaller daemons, familiars, mainly imps. so yeah long time, 200 years of being a warbamd.

Heres some more stuff:

Armour primary is like 75:25 adeptus battelgrey/chaos black.
Secondary is hawk turqoise.
Highlights are bronze, all metal areas are silver.

Sorcerers are same except for ice blue instead of turqoise, and highlight is silver. metal areaas black.

all lenses are yellow.

all power weapons are painted dark green with lighter green energy playing across.

favoured tactics are hit and run, mainly dropping from dropships... very very very few raptors, like maybe 3 squads. but their dropships are cloaked, so its hard to tell they're there until its too late. Ambushses are used during protracted combats, which are not favored.

many librarians. Command is only given to the grandmaster. sorcerers are second in command(lots of em ). patron in complete command of all daemons and matching pairs with the sorcerers.

so yeah. pirates. one patron god. i used wood elf dryads as summoned lessers, and the wood elves forest imps as familiars.

leader has two axes (counts as a bloodfeeder) called repentance and harbinger. a trusty bolter named deliverance. (no relation to raven guards homeworld... just noticed that haha.

patron gifts some mutations to squad leaders and the sorcerors, but grandmaster is not influnced at all. the patron is responsible and does not grant overwhelming transformations.\

Chaplains are used to regulate sacrifices and encourage increasingly horrible acts of fighting during battle. preferring close combat, but also good at ranged havoc, their weapons of choice are obviously lightning claws and daemon weapons. power waepons are normally in the shape of lightning claws.no spawn no bikers. no obliterators, as im keeping my army fluffy.

IDEAS are always helpful as well as criticism. keep in mind its 1:21 AM in cali right now so sue me if i forgot anything. thanks

Marines are implanted with 1 gene-seed and another 1 matures over the course of 50 years. The matured gene-seed can be taken whilst the marine lives but the primary one cannot without killing the marine.

If the entire chapter was present they would not stop simply to watch over their chapter master. Many SM from the Raven Guard gene-seed are pragmatic, they will carry on fighting because they know they cannot do anything about it.

The Imperial Guard have no authority over SM. This commissar would have been killed instantly and any guard units trying to avenge his death also killed.

The inquisition also attacked,

The Inquisition probably would have sided with the SM over the IG since it was the IG who attacked first.

and the space marines fought. If the chapter was at full strength i would guess that the guard and the Inquisition would have little chance in a full on fight whilst a daemonic incursion was going on around them...
the chapter was devastated... about 500-700 remained.

Devastated is more along the lines of 300 or 400 marines remaining...
500-700 is pretty good for an engagement that forces the chapter to switch alliances.

The idea is good but the execution could use a bit of work.
Most renegade marines need to have a believable reason for turning. Usually survival of the chapter is the reason but the Inquisition would have sided with them over the IG and the Inquisition could ensure thir continued existance after the battle.

1. Huh guess i missed that. Is the matured one that grows able to be implanted into another?
2. Good point, I'll fix that. Maybe only part of the Chapter was there. The other say 3/4? of it was on their homeworld. Or maybe it was just 1st and second company. And even though some might carrry on, I think a chapter Master, oh btw i didnt mention hes the first chapter master. irrelevant but yeah. I think they would stay back, if hes like seriously wounded and dying.
3. Imperial guardsmen are humans, after all-losing half his men because the space marines dropped back without warning would be cause for serious resentment. and stupidity.
4. And the Imperial guard did not attack. he was drawing his pistol when he was killed. I can change that though if thats too improbable. Oh nvm good idea. maybe they had a war council and the commissar called them cowards, and like it didnt matter if the master died as long as the war was won. and then he died in like half a second lol.
5. Yeah thats a good point. But as i said before they had cleansed all but the main city, which was now almost half ddead at this point. its fair to sey that the daemons fell back for a while. OH and in killing the guardsman, and the others in the tent(just added) the inquisition could think that chaos had touched them and they were turning due to exposure?
6. See above? maybe i could say just those companies were there.

1. Yeah it is.
2. Sounds like a good plan.
3. Commissars are completly and utterly devoted to the Emperor. SM are the symbols of the Emperor. Maybe change it to the IG Commander.
4. Sounds good.
5. Maybe the Guardsmen were corrupted (Only enough to get them to fire on SM) but all the Inq. saw was the SM slaughtering the IG so they assumed the SM had turned.

Okay i got it. The (now commander) of the IG was get hella angry. so his essence in the warp attracted a warp predator who lashed at his mind, forcing him to act aggresively for a moment. and lets say he fired a shot but the shot missed. the librarian dodged it then fried his ass. then the other guards fired on him, and the SM slaughtered them. inquisition came and found the space marines soaked in blood. so they attacked. full force. sm broke off and made a fighting withdrawal. so yeah

(oh btw inquisition came because of the sounds of the gunfight.)

The world could be in a turbulent part of the warp making it hard to find.
Not sure on names so you might have a free run there...

Dark Angels recruit from pretty much wherever the Rock happens to be at the time, same as the Phalanx.

Nah the Rock just moves from place to place and the DA recruit from whatever planet they happen to be near to...
Some times they use specific planets as a recruiting grounds though.
The Phalanx is a truly colossal batleship used by the Imperial Fists... It's really really big.
