Fairly recently I made my way into the War of the Rings, I'm going to try and play in 'Ard Boyz with it in a few months. I run the Misty Mountains with a focus on Monsters. This is the 2000 point list I came up with, any tips or critism is welcome.

Durburz, Goblin King of Moria
Druzhag the Beastcaller
Moria Goblin Warband - 8 Companies with an Attached Goblin Shaman
Moria Goblin Warband - 7 Companies with Shields, Durburz Attached
Moria Goblin Warband - 7 Companies with Bows, Druzhag Attached
Warg Pack - 4 Companies with Warg Chieftain Attached
Warg Pack - 4 Companies with Warg Chieftain Attached
Giant Spider Brood - 4 Companies
Spider Queen
Cave Drake
Dragon of Ancient Times
Cave Troll x 3

I'm considering a couple of different changes, the first is to drop a Cave Troll to give the Dragon magic. The second is to drop Durburz and the Goblins and instead only run Warg's, Spiders and Bats...

Ok man, first of all: if your going to take goblins, take gobo archers, dont bother with base warriors, bump your wargs up to 8 companies, with defence 4 they die to fast. Take a couple of big blocks of Blackshields (they're amazing). DONT buy the models though, waste of money, just paint your basic gobos differently, spider queen is average, cave drake is a waste of points. Dragon with magic is nasty, cave trolls arent really worth it.

I would try
Durburz
Druzhag
4x 3 Companies Goblins with bows
2x 8 Companies Wargs with chieftan
3x 6 Companies Blackshields
1x 4 Companies Blackshields
Dragon with Magic
Ally: Betrayer +Khamul

I'd make the seven companies of Goblin Warbands w? Shields the Blackshields.

I'd keep the basic Goblin grunt troops -- how can you have a Misty force without that kind of evil eye candy on the Field Box?

I'd give magic to Dragon but still take one troll at least. They look cool.

The rest of the advice is probably more sound than mine for tournie play, but I am a firm believer in having fun with an aesthetic and realistic list.

Thanks for the input! Now that I spend some time looking at the Blackshields I can see why you like them.

I might actually do this army up in two ways, one thats competitive and one that looks cool. I was hoping to be able to run a force with as few infantry models as possible, I had a vision of Wargs, Spiders and Dragons rushing into battle but since I need to run a hero I'm somewhat limited. The other list I was considering is:

Druzhag

Warg Pack - 6 Companies with a Chieftain
Warg Pack - 6 Companies with a Chieftain
Warg Pack - 6 Companies with a Chieftain
Warg Pack - 6 Companies with a Chieftain
Moria Goblin Warband - 6 Companies with Bows
Giant Spider Brood - 4 Companies
Spider Queen
Cave Troll
Cave Troll
Cave Drake
Dragon with Magic Upgrade

For this one, bump all your cav up to 8 companies, they have such a low defence that 4 or 6 companies are going to die very fast, also, make your bowmen 2 blocks of 3, rather than one big block of 6. Much easier to move around. Also, consider spider swarms, take a big block and use them to screen all your other cav as you move in, they are after all defence 10 against shooting

So a million dollar question for you... Other then the three that come with the Spider Queen where do you get Spider Broodling Swarms from?
